"Do you think you failed?"
"No, do you?"
"I cheated off James."
Stef rolls her eyes at me, "Of course you did."
"It's not like he doesn't let me."
She nods her head, "True. But I think that's only cause he wants to get in your pants."
I slap her shoulder and laugh, "I've been cheating off him since we've met. Calm down."
"You never know," She shrugs her shoulders.
I roll my eyes this time and wave goodbye to her. Math time was definitely not fun time. But if Ryan was here today he was gonna get a strict talking to.
"Hey."
"You're alive."
"Yeah, about that," Ryan begins to explain.
"No. I don't want to hear it."
I sit down beside him, since he's permanently taken Edward's spot. Then again, Edward took the spot beside Grayson.
I look to him and I see his eyes. Red and puffy, bloodshot eyes. He was high, again.
"Ryan, what the fuck?"
"What do you mean?"
"You're high," I point out, "I thought you'd quit."
"Once a stoner," He stops and seems to have to regain his breath, "Always a stoner."
I frown at him and look front. James walks in just then and smiles at me with a small wave. He gives me a look to ask if I'm okay. I tilt my head so it points to Ryan. James' mouth goes into an "o" and then he mouths an "I'm sorry" before going to his seat.
When he's sat down he turns around and give me a stupid face with a thumbs up. I can't help but laugh and do something dumb back.
"What are you laughing at?"
"None of your business," I tell Ryan off.
The bell rings then and our teacher walks in and immediately starts talking. Yay, math.
James waits for me at the end of class to walk with me to the cafeteria.
"Ryan was high?"
"I really don't want to talk about it."
James nods his head and jogs a little to catch up with me. I smile lightly but keep my head sorta down. James grabs my hand and squeezes, giving me a small tug. I tug back a little harder. This time when he tugs he pulls me too far and I stumble. He starts laughing at me and I can't help but join in.
James always knew how to make me feel better. Even the stupidest things, with him it felt like the best thing ever.
Ryan has disappointed me. I thought I was finally getting the bud I'd had long ago back. He'd gone back to his normal ways, he just couldn't resist it. In a way, I understand, but I still want to slap him silly.
"Stef, you look like you're going to have a panic attack."
"Prom ticket sales begin today," She looks at me with panic, "Right now."
"Oh, cool. Let me be your first costumer," James disregards Stef's current state and just pulls out his wallet.
He smiles at her and gives her the right amount of money for two tickets. She looks at him flabbergasted but accepts the money and gives him the fancy ticket.
The ticket had a cute painting of stars on it and had the words "Night to Remember" scribbled on in cursive. I take the ticket that James is handing me and admire it. Prettier than the tickets from last year, for sure. Still cliche but what you gonna do, it's a high school dance.
