"Hello?"
"It's 10am, Jesus."
"Good morning to you too?" I question.
"No! You were sleeping, on a Friday," Stef says.
"So?"
"We have school on Fridays," Stef exclaims.
My eyes go wide. I slept through my alarm? And my mother? I can't function right now.
"I'm going to hang up when I here the water running from your shower."
I get up and walk to my bathroom, ready to take a shower and rid myself of the morning tiredness. Like that will suddenly wash away.
"Hear it? Okay bye," I hang up on Stef.
I'm still without my morning coffee, can you blame me?
Once I'm out of the shower, I change back into my pjs and sink into bed. There is no way I'm going to school and facing life, that's too much effort.
The girls, and surprisingly Edward, check up on me and make sure I'm alive, asking what was going on. I kept my answers short and simple, trying not to share too much information. I felt bad, Edward had just met me and I was already being mean.
The only person that I wanted to text me didn't and it hurt that he was persisting on this nonsense.
After what would have been the end of the day at school, I hear my doorbell. I collapse out of bed and trudge to the front door, yet again hoping it's him. To my utter dismay I see Stef's bright smile.
"Hello Sweetie, tell me more," She greets.
I let her in, thinking if I should tell her all about my great feelings. Voting against it, for fear of looking crazy, I decided lie my way through the evening.
"So you didn't go to school because you feel bad?" She begins her long series of questions.
I nod in response, walking to my room and back into my bed.
"I hate when you lie to me. Truth, please," She reads right through me.
"You know why," I look at her, not even cracking the slightest smile.
"Right. How was laying in bed all day?"
"I suddenly have too much time on my hands to overthink life," I answer.
"You can say that again," Stef smiles again although it disappears as fast as it came, "You know he didn't sit with us today. He sat with Ryan and his stoner buddies."
My stomach drops. It was happening. The end of an era.
"Edward sat with us though. I like him, he's a nice addition," Stef tries to brighten the mood.
"Good. I'm glad he can have friends," I say with the frown still planted on my face.
"Yeah, he was really worried about you."
I grab my face, "The boy just met me and he's so worried about me."
"He just wants to actually be a good friend."
"Sounds like there's a hidden message there," I smile lightly.
Stef just shrugs and sits down in bed with me.
"You can't look like this forever."
"I beg to differ," I attack back.
"Let me cheer you up, Stef style."
