|07.| TOO LITTLE TOO LATE

"Tonight is the full moon," Elijah says as the four of them, excluding Damon, speak in the library. "We should assume Klaus is prepared to break the curse."

"Elena said that the Sun and the Moon curse is fake?" Cora crosses her arms. "That it's actually just a curse placed on Klaus."

"Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline," Elijah gives an answer. "The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting. But if he breaks it, he'll be a true hybrid."

Cora slightly nods and looks over to see her older brother joining the group. Damon gives her a glare and looks at the Original.

"Then why are we letting him break the curse? We can kill him today. With Bonnie," Damon states.

"Damon," Cora gives him a warned look.

"No. Bonnie can't use that much power without dying," Elena shakes her head, not liking Damon's suggestion.

"I'll write her a great eulogy," Damon nonchalantly states.

"It's not an option, Damon," Elena says back.

"Alright, how do we break this curse?" Stefan stops the bickering.

"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak, you already know," Elijah starts off.

"The moonstone," Cora nods, leaning against the table that has glasses and a bottle of alcohol.

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone," Elijah continues. "After that, Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each."

"And where do I fit into it?" Elena asks.

"The final part of the ritual," Elijah walks over to a bookshelf, grabbing a box. "Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelgänger to the point of your death."

Damon gives the Original an are-you-serious look while Stefan rubs his head while grabbing his girlfriend's hand. Cora slightly sighs, not liking the plan thus far but not exactly too torn up over the fact that Elena will die.

"And that's where you come in," Elena exhales, looking up at Elijah.

"This is an elixir that I acquired some five hundred years ago for Katerina," Elijah takes out the elegant bottle. "It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation."

"So I'll be dead?" Elena asks.

"And then you won't."

"That's your plan?" Damon breaks his own silence. "A magical witch potion with no expiration date? You want to come back to life, what about John's ring?"
