"Luke, I'm not sure...you really think I should join you?" Feeling somehow insecure, Lucy stood in the living room, looking at her brother. She was only wearing some sweatpants and a top while Luke was already fully dressed in a pair of pants and a Bordeaux shirt, ready to leave. He now nodded and came over to put his hands on top of Lucy's shoulders.
"Why not? I'd like you to get to know my friends and colleagues better", he explained and his brown eyes were literally begging her to accompany him to a party that Rossi threw at his mansion, only for his BAU colleagues. Lucy sighed as she placed her hands into her hips. "Come on", Luke continued, hoping to change her mind.
"Alright, alright", she finally gave in and held up her hands in a defeated way. "Let me just put on some representable clothes." She disappeared into her room and hurried to get dressed. While she put on a light blue dress that ended just right above her knees and got tied in her neck, she thought about that she was going to meet Spencer Reid again, earlier than she had even imagined, thanks to her brother. Was Luke maybe intending that they would meet again? Did he think that she had a thing for the young agent? She shook her head, took one last look into the mirror and then left.
"Here I am. Let's go", Lucy said as she grabbed her purse and opened the front door. Grinning, Luke followed her, with Roxy at his feet.
During that half-hour-drive to Rossi's, Lucy was more quiet than usual and Luke glanced at her occasionally. "What's going on in your mind?", he eventually asked.
"I...I don't know if it's a good idea to join you tonight. What if...what if they don't like me?" It had been unlike her to think like that in the past, Lucy knew that and Luke would know as well. But she just couldn't help it. She had changed over the last months and now being here in a city she didn't really know and having to meet people that were so important to her brother while they didn't know Lucy wasn't easy for her. She bit her lips while she stared out the window.
"Lucy", Luke started and reached over to gently squeeze her hand, "they will love you, I promise."
"How do you even know that?", she asked, slightly laughing now.
"You're my sister", he simply said with a smile and with that he immediately made Lucy feel better again. He had always had that talent of cheering her up no matter how sad, upset, worried or angry she had been. When they arrived at Rossi's, it looked as if they were the last ones of the group and Lucy's heart started to pound faster in her chest. Yes, she had already met those people, but only for about five minutes. Now she would spend a whole evening with Luke's team.
"Hey, you'll be alright", Luke said as they walked towards the front door.
"Yeah, I guess so", Lucy just murmured while she tried to ignore her racing heart. Why the hell was she that nervous? That was just ridiculous.
"Hello, guys! And welcome to the Rossi mansion!" David Rossi opened the door right after Luke had pressed the doorbell and now beamed at them. "It's nice to meet you again, Lucy", he greeted her and pulled her in a short hug, kissing both her cheeks. Lucy felt a bit overwhelmed but also relieved. It seemed as if at least one of Luke's teammates liked her.
"Come on in, the others are outside in the garden already", Rossi then said and stepped aside to let Luke and Lucy in. She followed her brother through the huge house while she let her eyes wander through the rooms they passed. Wow, that's one amazing house, she thought by herself.
"Heyyy, finally!" Penelope's voice was heard as soon as Luke and Lucy stepped outside. The blonde technical analyst came walking towards them and immediately threw her arms around Lucy. She couldn't help but laugh at the woman. Penelope was a ray of sunshine, Lucy had already realized the first time they've met. "It's so nice that you came too!", she exclaimed with the biggest smile on her face.
