Lucy sat up straight in bed. Suddenly, her world was spinning around and she felt sick to her stomach. "What?" Her voice wasn't more than a whisper. Fear was tightening her chest and her throat.

"We were chasing down the unsub and...Spencer wanted to join us, although Emily told him to stay back at the police station. But you know how stubborn he is..."

"Luke, how bad is his injury?", Lucy harshly asked, interrupting her brother. She could hear him sigh at the other end of the line and her heart dropped. She now swung her legs out of bed and was about to get up.

"He got a shot on his left side, where the bulletproof vest didn't fully protect his body", Luke quietly told her. "He...he wasn't fit, Lu, but he wanted to catch this guy, no matter what."

Lucy nodded before she realized that Luke couldn't see her. Oh, this was Spencer. He always had the urge to get the bad guys. And now...a sob escaped her mouth and she covered it with her free hand. "In...in which...hospital...is he?", she asked with a shaky voice.

"Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore", Luke answered.

"I'll be there in about two hours", Lucy said, hung up without letting Luke a chance to reply and then hurried to get dressed. She would drive the whole way to Baltimore and she wouldn't stop until she was there. Her heart was racing in her chest so fast, it hurt. Or was it the fear of losing him that made her chest tighten even more and made it so hard to breathe? Lucy tried to hold back her tears while she was driving all the way up to Baltimore. She had to get there fast and she couldn't need a blurred vision right now. All she needed was to be with Spencer.

"Where is he?", Lucy breathed as she came running into the waiting room. Luke had messaged her where he and the team was and Lucy hoped to get some information. To know nothing was starting to drive her insane.

"He's about to be brought in a room", Emily told her after Lucy had gotten hugged by everyone. "The doctor said he's going to be fine", she added when she saw Lucy's worried facial expression.

Lucy just nodded and let Luke bring her to one of the chairs. "Come on, sit down."

"I...I want to see him." She did not just want to see him, she had to see him to make sure that he was going to be alright. That she wouldn't lose him.

"Let's wait until the doctor comes to give us any further information", JJ murmured as she let her hand run over Lucy's hair. Sighing, Lucy leaned against Luke's shoulder. She was tired, so tired. But she was also afraid. Terribly scared that Spencer's injury was more serious than they all were telling her now.

But the doctor came some minutes later and assured them, that Spencer's surgery went well and that he'd be released from the hospital within one or two weeks, if the healing process went as they'd expected.

Lucy let out a sigh of relief and asked to finally see her boyfriend. Slightly smiling, the doctor told her in which room Spencer was and she hurried down the corridor. With her heart pounding fast against her chest, Lucy opened the door and slowly walked inside. There he was lying in the white bed: Spencer looked pale, his hair was a mess – even more than usual – and he was unconscious. Well, of course he was, he'd just had a surgery and needed to recover. As quietly as she could, Lucy grabbed a chair and put it right next to the bed. She sat down and carefully took Spencer's hand in hers. While she looked at him, she couldn't hold back the tears that were filling her eyes and then poured down her cheeks. "I'm so sorry, Spencer", she whispered as she let the tears just flow.

A hand suddenly stroked her shoulder and Lucy looked up. She had been so focused on Spencer, she hadn't realized that Luke had come in. "Hey, he's going to be alright", he tried to comfort her. Lucy finally whipped away the tears.

"It's just...I'm so glad he's going to be alright and I'm so sorry for fighting with him...", she said and Luke just nodded as he sat down on the other chair. Although Rossi had come in to bring the siblings a cup of coffee, tiredness came over Lucy and soon she fell asleep in her chair, with her head on the bed, right to Spencer's hip. Her hand was still holding his.

When that hand started to move slightly, she sat up straight again, suddenly fully awake. "Spence?", she whispered as she looked up to him. His eyelids fluttered and a little groan came from his mouth. "Spencer, can you hear me?", Lucy continued and now stood up to move upwards so she could understand what he was trying to say.

"Hey", he murmured and finally, his eyes opened. When he saw Lucy, a slight smile appeared on his pale lips.

"Hey", Lucy said and couldn't hold back a sob anymore.

"Why...you're...crying?", Spencer asked – his voice raspy. He frowned at her. Lucy just shook her head and stroked Spencer's cheek.

"I'm just...so glad that you're alive and awake", she replied and then kissed him. When Spencer winced, Lucy pulled back again. Her eyes were examining him with concern. "Are you in pain?"

He slowly nodded, but there was still a little smile on his face. "I'm going to get a doctor", Luke said as he stood up from his chair and left the room. For a moment, there was silence between Spencer and Lucy while she whipped away her tears. "I'm so sorry", she eventually murmured and kissed Spencer's hand.

"Sorry about what?" Once again, Spencer was frowning.

"Sorry that we fought before you left. I know that you always want to do your job and..." She stopped when Spencer slowly held up a finger and put it on her lips.

"I know. I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have said some things. I was just...angry", he quietly said.

"Let's not fight anymore, okay? At least not before you must go on a case. Damn you, I was scared for your life, you idiot", Lucy said and Spencer laughed – only to wince again. Laughing probably wasn't a good idea now. In that moment, the door opened and Luke came back with a doctor. Lucy and Luke had to leave for a while, so they decided to go grab another coffee. They found JJ and Matt sitting in the waiting room.

"Hey guys. Where are Emily, Tara and Rossi?", Luke asked.

"Oh, they went back to D.C.", JJ said, sighing. "How's Spence? Did he wake up?" Lucy nodded and told Matt and JJ that he wasn't doing so bad. While they were waiting, Luke went to grab another cup of coffee including one for his sister.

"Do I really look so tired?", she asked him when he handed her the steamy cup. There was a slight smile on her lips and Luke smiled back.

"Oh, well...yes, you look tired. Extremely so", he then confessed and Lucy sighed. She was tired indeed. But there was no way she'd go home. She'd stay here for as long as Spencer would have to be held in a hospital bed. And she told Luke that.

"What, don't you hate hospitals anymore?", he asked.

Lucy shrugged and took a ship of her coffee. "Oh, I still do, believe me. But I won't leave without Spencer."
