Lucy sighed happily and snuggled into Spencer's arms. He had been back from that case in Boston for almost two days now and they had enjoyed every moment since then. "You okay?", Spencer quietly asked. Lucy nodded. Although the morning sickness was still there at some days, she felt happy and good most of the time.
Spencer's hand wandered to Lucy's stomach and stayed there. A baby bump was starting to be visible at this point. And Spencer already loved it to put his hands there. Lucy enjoyed it. It showed her that he cared and that he was excited for this baby. "Do you think we'll get to know what we'll have on the first ultrasound?", Lucy asked. She was so curious and would have loved to find out the sex of the baby already.
Spencer chuckled as he continued stroking Lucy's stomach. "I guess we won't. It's usual that parents find out the sex of their baby around the 20th week", he explained and Lucy smirked. He was spitting fact after fact about babies and birth since they had found out about Lucy's pregnancy. It was like Spencer was a walking encyclopedia, more than usual.
"Have you read all the books that are out there about pregnancies, babies and giving birth?", Lucy asked chuckling.
"I've already read such books when JJ was pregnant with her boys. I wanted to be ready if she should go into labor in the field", he explained with a shrug.
Lucy laughed. "Why am I not surprised?"
"Because you know me best", Spencer replied with a grin and leaned own to press a kiss on Lucy's neck. She closed her eyes and leaned against his chest. She was so excited for the first ultrasound, she couldn't wait for it. Spencer would join her and he was at least as excited as she was. Tomorrow the day would be here. Tomorrow they'd see their little baby for the first time.

"Spence, can you hurry, please? We're already late!" Impatiently, Lucy was standing in the corridor, waiting for her husband to finally be ready. The appointment for the first ultrasound would be in about forty-five minutes and they still had to drive there. Lucy didn't want to come late and rolled her eyes at Spencer. And people said women were always the ones not being ready on time...
"I'm here, I'm here", he said with a calm voice and leaned down to kiss Lucy. But she turned her head to the other side. Sighing, Spencer let her be. It happened from time to time that the hormones were making her moody and then he knew she'd come crawling back into his arms when she felt like it again.
In the waiting room of her gynecologist, Lucy grabbed Spencer's hand and they interlaced their fingers. Spencer smirked. She wasn't annoyed by him anymore, he assumed. "Mister and Misses Reid?"
They both stood up and followed the doctor's assistant into one of the rooms. Lucy was so excited to see her baby for the first time, she was surprised that she wasn't shaking already.
"Alright, let's take a look at that little munchkin", the gynecologist said after he had greeted Lucy and Spencer. He put some gel on Lucy's bare stomach and she slightly winced. It was ice cold. Both, Spencer and Lucy, stared at the monitor on their right. For a moment, nobody said a word while the gynecologist was looking for the baby.
"You see this? That's the heartbeat", he suddenly said and pointed to the monitor. And he was right: A tiny point was pounding regularly. Lucy swallowed hard to hold her tears at bay. The emotions were overwhelming. There was really a baby in there. She was carrying a baby inside of her stomach. Growing life was there. She could feel Spencer grabbing her hand and gently squeezing it. He was overwhelmed as well.
"Oh."
"What?" Spencer was leaning over to have a closer look at the monitor when he heard the gynecologist's voice. "What? Is there a problem? Is...is something wrong with the baby?" His voice was some octaves higher than usual and Lucy's heart started to race in her chest.
