"I guess I need maternity clothes very soon", Lucy groaned as she tried to close the button of her pants. It had taken her at least three minutes to get it done and now she had to breathe heavily. Spencer laughed and came to her, wrapping his arms around her torso.
"I could join you for buying some", he murmured into Lucy's ear. But she pulled him away and grabbed the top to put it on.
"I'll go with Penelope. She already told me she'd love to join me for buying new clothes", Lucy explained. Spencer raised an eyebrow at his wife.
"She's going to literally throw every piece of maternity clothing at you because she thinks you'll look cute in it", he said.
"Oh, so you think that I won't look cute in them?", Lucy shot at him and put her hands at her hips. Chuckling, Spencer came closer again and pulled her towards him.
"You'll look pretty and cute in everything, darling", he assured her and kissed her for so long, she had to stop the kiss to get some air into her lungs again.
"Thank you", she breathed and then had to leave for the bookshop. She wanted to work for as long as possible before the twins would be born. On the way there, Lucy sent Penelope a text to ask if she was free to go for a shopping spree with her in the late afternoon. Penelope was excited immediately and promised to pick her up from the bookstore later.
Spencer had been right. As soon as Lucy and Penelope had stepped into the first shop that sold maternity fashion, Penelope was hooked. She bustled through the room, grabbing clothes here and there and handed them to Lucy so she could go and try them on. "We went here as well when JJ was pregnant for the first time and she loved it! And I do too! They have so many cute and pretty stuff!", she exclaimed while she couldn't stop grabbing even more clothes.
Lucy tried everything on but wasn't sure of any piece of clothing. "I don't know, Penny...it makes me look even bigger", she murmured as she glanced at her mirror image and turned from left to right and back again.
"You silly! You look absolutely adorable! This top is just so cute!", Penelope disagreed before she gave Lucy another one to try on. Sighing, Lucy did it. She would have to buy some of those clothes anyway before her belly would grow even more. In a week or two she wouldn't be able to wear the pants and tops she owned anymore.
Three hours later, Lucy was exhausted and Penelope was carrying at least four bags full of clothes. "I'll never use them all, Penny", Lucy murmured as they walked down the street.
"Oh, who knows? One can never have enough clothes", Penelope said and beamed at her friend. Lucy had to smile back. She knew, Penelope only wanted her best. And she was glad that her friend had joined her in going for a shopping spree for those clothes.
Back at home, Lucy decided to put on a pair of pants and a cute top. It was pink and it suited her skin color perfectly. For a moment, she glanced at herself in the mirror. Then, she lifted the top and looked at her baby bump. It was growing fast. No wonder, she was carrying two babies inside of her. Looking closer, Lucy could spot stretch marks on her skin. She carefully ran a finger along one. Damn. She had hoped that she wouldn't get those. Or at least, not so early. Sighing, she put the top down again. She didn't want to look at the marks for any longer.
When Spencer returned from paper work, he found his wife sitting on the couch, having a cup of hot chocolate. "Hey, babe", he said and leaned down to kiss her. But Lucy wasn't in the mood. The fact, that her body was changing so much, had suddenly hit her quite hard. Of course, she was happy about becoming a mother of twins, but she started to feel kind of uncomfortable in her body. Spencer immediately sensed that something was going on. He sat down next to her and examined her face. "What's the matter?"
"This!", Lucy exclaimed and lifted her top, showing Spencer the pink and purple-colored stretch marks. Spencer first looked at the marks, then into Lucy's face. And back again to the marks.
"Lu", he started and stood up, pulling her with him. "This is what happens. Your body is adjusting to two humans growing inside your stomach."
"They look ugly", Lucy murmured and tried to put the top down again. But Spencer held her back.
"No, they don't", he answered back. While Lucy was still standing there, Spencer kneeled on the floor and started to kiss every stretch mark he could find on Lucy's stomach and hips. He let his fingers gently run over them and showed Lucy how much he adored her. How much he loved her, no matter what. She could feel some tears falling from her eyes. But she smiled again. "There are our babies in there", Spencer murmured against her skin. He stroked her stomach and pressed kisses on it, over and over again. "You're carrying them. You're the most amazing and beautiful woman I know, darling." Spencer slowly got up again and pulled Lucy with him back on the couch. He gently whipped away the tears from her cheeks.
"I'm sorry for being so silly and emotional", she sobbed but Spencer shook his head.
"Don't be sorry. It's the hormones", he said sympathetically. Lucy snuggled into his arms and finally started to feel better. Spencer was right. She was carrying twins and this was a damn miracle. "I love you", she murmured against his chest.
"I love you too", Spencer replied and kissed her forehead. For a moment, they just kept snuggling quietly until Spencer suddenly asked: "What do you think about prenatal classes?"
Lucy looked up to him and raised an eyebrow. "Prenatal classes?"
Spencer nodded. "Yeah. I think, those would be helpful, don't you?" Lucy thought about it for a moment. She hadn't spent one thought of something like this yet. But Spencer was right. It might be a good idea. So, Lucy eventually nodded.
"Okay. But only on one condition."
"And that is?"
"You'll have to join me", Lucy said with a grin. Spencer laughed and pulled her closer again.
"I will do my best", he promised before he kissed her.
