One evening, Spencer and Lucy were lying in bed, reading their books, when suddenly, she could feel a kick against her kidneys. Lucy winced and immediately put her book down. A kick! One of the babies had kicked! For the first time, she could feel it like an actual kick and not just like a vibration or a flutter. "Spence!", she exclaimed and her husband slightly winced.
"What? What's the matter?", he asked, putting his own book down as well.
"The babies! They're kicking!", Lucy said while she took one of Spencer's hands and placed them on her bare belly now. With eyes wide open, Spencer felt two more kicks. He was obviously amazed and looked up at Lucy. She was smiling and stared at her belly.
"Does it hurt?", Spencer quietly asked as if he didn't dare to speak louder and maybe make the babies stop kicking.
Lucy shrugged while her own hand was wandering over her baby bump. "Not really. It's...a bit uncomfortable when they kick into my organs but...it's okay. Totally bearable", she explained. Spencer's lips parted into a smile before he stared down again, eager to see and feel the babies kick again. And they did. Both, Spencer and Lucy beamed. This was some miracle, no doubt. For almost an hour, Spencer and Lucy kept lying in bed, each with a hand on Lucy's baby bump, waiting for more kicks and movements. Soon Spencer fell asleep; cuddled up next to his wife, his hand still on top of her bump. Lucy herself couldn't find sleep anytime soon. The babies seemed to be wide awake in her tummy and were kicking and wriggling around. It made Lucy feel a bit uncomfortable and even the thought of sleeping looked ridiculous to her. Instead, she grabbed her book and read for another two hours before she could feel the babies finally calming down and she eventually could find some sleep as well.

"Everything looks good so far. We'll make another appointment in four weeks." Lucy's gynecologist smiled at her while he printed the new scans so Lucy could take them home and show Spencer. For the first time since they knew about her pregnancy, Lucy went for a scan alone. Spencer had planned to join her but work got in the way.
"Alright", Lucy said, took the picture and went to make a new appointment before she left the office and strolled through the hospital's corridor towards the exit. She had never liked hospitals. But it happened that her gynecologist was located in one of the biggest hospitals of the city and Lucy didn't want to change the doctor. Feeling a bit nauseous from the smell in here, she intended to leave as fast as possible. But suddenly, there was a shot heard from somewhere and Lucy winced and turned around. Her heart was beating fast and her eyes were scanning the room to find out from where it had come. People were screaming and throwing themselves on the floor or hiding behind furniture. But Lucy was just standing there, petrified and confused.
"Please put that gun down!" A male voice was heard and Lucy could see that it was a security man. He was talking to another man. And this guy was holding a gun in his right hand. Lucy swallowed and she tried to figure out if she would make it to the exit without getting caught. But as soon as she had turned around, the man shouted: "No one will leave this room! Not...not until someone explained to me why my little boy had to die!"
Lucy froze and she closed her eyes, trying to calm down her racing heart and taking some deep breaths. What the hell was going on? Why was she here? She felt fear creep up her chest as she put her hands on the baby bump.
"Where's doctor Buchannon? I want him to explain me why he killed my son!" The man's loud voice was heard once again. "Everybody down right now! And someone tell me where the doctor is!" Now, Lucy let herself sink to the floor as well, right next to an elderly woman which Lucy recognized as the lady who worked at the reception of the hospital. They exchanged quick looks but didn't say anything. They were both too afraid the man would put his attention at them. Lucy didn't want to put herself into even more danger. She was scared for her babies.
"Mister, please put the gun down right now or I'll be forced to shoot!" The security man was trying to get the hostage-taker to give up again, but instead, the man just shot. And the security man immediately broke down.
"Oh, my god!", Lucy gasped and pressed a hand against her mouth to hold back a scream. This man was getting serious. She looked around to find out if this doctor Buchannon was here already. Lucy had a feeling that if this man wouldn't appear very soon, the father of the death girl would totally freak out. She didn't even want to imagine what would happen then. She just wanted to get out of here. She wanted to go home. Lucy felt tears forming in the corner of her eyes and she quickly whipped them away. It wasn't time for crying.
"Doctor Buchannon!", the man shouted through the whole huge room. And finally, a doctor appeared.
"I'm...doctor Buchannon", he quietly said and Lucy could see the fear in his eyes. She could see that he first glanced at the security man on the floor – he wasn't moving anymore – and then at the gun the father was still holding in his hand. "Please...put it down, Mister Summers. Let's talk about what happened, only you and me. There's no need to put all these other people into danger." Although the doctor was talking in a calm voice, it didn't seem to calm down the man. Instead, he pointed the gun directly at the doctor's chest.
"You killed my baby", he said between clenched teeth. Lucy, who had been glancing over the table to see what was going on, kneeled again and rummaged for her phone. It was only when she tried to dial Spencer's number when she realized that her hands were shaking. Lucy bit her bottom lip and ignored the shaking. She needed to call Spencer now.
"Hey, darling. What's going on?", he answered the phone.
"Spence", Lucy whispered, peeking around the corner to see if the man was still distracted and didn't notice her calling someone. "Spence, I'm...I'm in the hospital and-"
"Oh god, is something wrong with the babies?", Spencer interrupted her what made Lucy roll her eyes.
"No, it isn't. But...listen. There's a man here in the hospital, he...he says his son died in here and...he's got a gun and he shot one of the security men. Spence, he's about to run amok and we can't get out. He...he wants us all to stay in here", Lucy quietly and quickly explained. Spencer had put her on speaker at some point, so the whole team could listen.
"Lucy, you need to stay where you are, okay? Don't put the man's attention on you", Luke said. He sounded worried, obviously.
"I promise", she whispered. Emily told her that the team would come to the hospital with the police. They'd get Lucy out. "Where's Spencer?", Lucy asked when she realized that she hadn't heard from him since a few minutes.
"I'm here, babe", she could hear his voice and let out a breath of relieve. "Please be careful", he said and his voice was slightly shaking. Lucy could imagine him pacing through the room, running his fingers through his hair. The things he mostly did when he was worried or nervous. She didn't want him to worry too much. But to tell him this wouldn't help him nor her.
"Just hurry", Lucy said and before she could say something else, she saw the man with the gun glancing into her direction. She hurried to put her phone back into her bag. Slowly, the man turned around and walked towards her and the reception lady. Lucy swallowed hard while she watched him coming closer.
