Shortly after the team had gotten the news that Spencer and Lucy were expecting twins, the couple had told Lucy's parents and Spencer's mom as well. All three of them had been overwhelmed and Diana had even cried a little, Spencer had told Lucy. "She was sobbing on the phone. She can't believe that she's going to be the grandma of twins."
Spencer had also called Derek to tell him the amazing news. Lucy had been with him and they had face timed the former FBI agent because Spencer had wanted to see his friend's face. Derek's jaw had dropped and then he had laughed and congratulated them. Little Hank had come lumbering to his daddy to see why he was laughing so hard. And Lucy had been in awe – Hank was such a cute little munchkin! She couldn't wait for her twins to grow up and have playing dates with him.
"Derek almost freaked out over the news. You should have seen his face", Spencer laughed and leaned back in his chair, trying to imitate Derek's facial expression. He and Lucy were at Rossi's, together with the rest of the team. They had wanted to hear how Derek had reacted to his little brother becoming a father of twins. The others joined into his laughter. They were sitting around the table, having a glass of wine – or some glasses – and talked just about whatever came to their minds. Except for working stuff.
Rossi had forbidden to talk about any cases this evening. "It's supposed to be an evening full of laughter and joy and our cases don't have a place here tonight", he had explained.
Lucy was sitting next to Spencer, her hand on top of his. He had placed his on her thigh and his thumb was gently stroking the skin there. The dinner had been delicious – once again, Rossi had cooked and sometimes, Lucy wondered why he hadn't thought of opening a restaurant at some point. He was an amazing cook. And now Lucy started to feel tired. She had eaten two plates of Rossi's spaghetti carbonara and had eaten way too much of his tiramisu. Of course, she had left out all the wine and coffee. But she would have loved to have a cup of it to fight her tiredness. She fought back a yawn and leaned her head on Spencer's shoulder. "Are you tired?", Spencer quietly asked and with a sigh, Lucy nodded. It was almost midnight and yes, she couldn't hide anymore that all she wanted was her bed now. "You want to go home?"
Once again, Lucy nodded. "Yeah, I think we should leave or I'll fall asleep on this chair in a few minutes", she replied with a little smile.
"I was wondering when you'd give in. You look tired since hours", Luke said with a grin and Lucy poked her tongue out at her brother.
"Well, you can't blame her. She's carrying two babies, okay?", JJ came to Lucy's defense. Men. They would never understand what it was like to be pregnant. Lucy got up from her chair and started to give everyone a hug.
"Thank you for this delicious dinner, Dave. It was incredible, as always", she said with a smile. Smirking, Rossi kissed her cheeks.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. And now, get home safely and sleep well, principessa."
"Thank you."
As soon as Lucy sat in the car, her eyelids dropped and she just couldn't help it anymore. She fell asleep almost immediately. Smiling, Spencer glanced at her for a moment before he started the engine. Lucy was still asleep when they arrived back home and Spencer thought about whether waking her up or carrying her upstairs. She looked so peaceful in her sleep and Spencer couldn't bring himself to wake her up. She needed sleep. "Come on, sleepyhead. I'll carry you", he quietly said as he lifted Lucy out of the car. She snuggled into his chest but didn't wake up. He carefully put her down on the mattress and prepared himself for bed before he crawled under the duvet and wrapped an arm around Lucy, who had turned to her left side. He gently stroked her baby bump before he fell asleep too.
Something woke Lucy up in the middle of the night. A bit confused, she sat up and tried to figure out what it was. It took her a while to realize that she was hungry. Well, not hungry exactly. More like she was craving ice cream. Oh yes, that was what she wanted more than anything right now. She sneaked out of the bedroom and lumbered into the kitchen. She grinned when she saw that there was half a can of Ben & Jerry's Junky Monkey in the freezer. She grabbed it and sat down on the kitchen table. "Hmmm", she made when she ate the first spoon of ice cream. This had always been her favorite one and since she was pregnant, she could eat it every day. Way too fast the can was empty again and Lucy threw it into the trash can. Damn, she still didn't have enough of it, but there was no more in here. For a moment, she thought about walking to the next 24-hours-supermarket down the street and grab another two or three cans. She went back into the bedroom and tried to grab her clothes. That wasn't so easy since it was completely dark in the room and she didn't want to wake up Spencer. But it was too late anyway, she could hear him fumbling for the bedside lamp and seconds later, there was light.
"Lucy? What the hell are you doing?", Spencer murmured as he sat up.
"I...was about to go to the supermarket down the street. We don't have any ice cream anymore", she explained and finally found her pants.
"Are you crazy? It's four in the morning!" Spencer slowly stood up and came over to her. He took the pants out of her hands.
Lucy groaned and took the pants back. "But I'm craving ice cream, Spence! I need it, okay? I'm the pregnant one here, I can't do anything against it!"
"I won't let you go alone in the middle of the night!", he shot back and once again took the pants out of Lucy's hands. "You know what? You tell me which ice cream you'd like and I go get it for you, okay?", he suggested and saw Lucy's face light up.
"Really?!"
Spencer laughed as he started to get dressed. He would do anything for her. Even go to get some food for her in the middle of the night. "Yeah, really."
"Awww! Could you also bring me...a glass of cucumbers, Nutella and peanut butter?"
Spencer's eyes widened. "Erm...you want to eat these things all together, at once, right?"
Grinning, Lucy nodded. She was craving food combinations like this for three weeks now and just couldn't help it. Spencer laughed, quickly pressed a kiss on her lips and then hurried to get her what she wanted.
While Lucy waited for Spencer to return, she grabbed her phone and texted Luke:
Would you make me some of your lasagna tomorrow or so? I'm craving it.
Lu
She hadn't gotten an answer when Spencer returned – no wonder, of course her brother was sleeping. It was way too early to get up, especially when there wasn't a case so far. "Here, darling." Spencer had joined Lucy on the couch and now put all the food on the coffee table. Squealing, Lucy grabbed the Junky Monkey ice cream and started to eat. Amused, Spencer watched her without her noticing for a while.
"What?", Lucy eventually asked; the spoon still in her mouth.
"Nothing. You're just...so adorable and pretty", Spencer said and leaned in to take the spoon out of her mouth and kissed her. She giggled and then put some ice cream into Spencer's mouth.
"Wow, that's really good", he murmured and asked for another one. So, they shared the whole can of Ben & Jerry'sbefore Lucy fell asleep on the couch. Spencer spread one of the fluffy blankets over her and went to make a coffee for himself. He wouldn't fall asleep again anyway.
When he came back, Lucy's phone made a sound. He shortly glanced at it and had to hold back a chuckle. There was Luke's answer to Lucy's question:
Seriously?! Again?! I feel like I'm making lasagna literally every day for you. Of course, you'll get some. I'll bring it over as soon as it's done, sis.
Luke
