"I'm so glad everything turned out good", Lucy sighed as she snuggled into Spencer's arms. "Well...except for the...poor dead women", she added and Spencer nodded. For three hours, the team was finally back and had caught the killer woman. The case had taken them almost two days. Two days in which Lucy had spent hour after hour in the BAU, almost going mad since she felt like being trapped in here. Most of the time Lucy had tried to spend sitting or lying around and reading. Occasionally, she and Penelope had taken a quick walk with Roxy since the dog just had to go outside. But Penelope and Lucy hadn't been allowed to go out by themselves. A police man had joined them whenever they wanted to go out with the dog. Lucy had been a bit annoyed but she somehow could understand the concern of the team as well.
"I'm glad too", Spencer said and kissed Lucy's hair while his right hand was stroking her baby bump. "How are you feeling?" This was a question Spencer now asked more frequently. He was worried that the babies might be born too early – since this was normal when expecting twins – but he hoped they would wait for a while longer. And Lucy did so too. Although she was exhausted a lot by now, she wanted her babies to come healthy and strong into this world.
"I'm doing good", Lucy replied and leaned against her husband. He had been such a great support to her during her whole pregnancy. And she knew how hard it was for him sometimes too. Whenever she was in pain or in a bad mood, there wasn't much he could do to help her and she knew that he hated that. "Oh, one is kicking!", Lucy suddenly exclaimed and took Spencer's hand to move it to the right place. His eyes widened as they always did when he could feel one of his babies kick.
"Sometimes I still can't believe this is really happening", he murmured while he stared at Lucy's baby bump, trying to not only feel but also see the kicks. Lucy giggled. They had talked about being parents in a few weeks so many times until now and they both still were in awe when they even only thought about it. It was scary and frightening but also extremely exciting and wonderful. They couldn't wait for the babies to finally be born so they could hold them in their arms and see how they looked like. Lucy kept imagining how they'd look like from time to time. Would they have Spencer's eyes? Or his nose? His lips? What about her ears and skin color? She couldn't wait to find out if they'd look how she imagined.

Days and weeks passed quickly and Lucy's baby bump grew more and more. She felt like a huge whale by now and wished for her babies to arrive soon. It got more exhausting every day and she started to get moody and being annoyed with everything. Well, she'd been moody and annoyed before already, but it got worse the longer the pregnancy went on.
Spencer and Lucy had started to go to bed quite early those last days. They knew, sleep would be extremely rare as soon as the babies would be born. And Lucy hoped to finally get a bit more sleep every evening but mostly her hopes got destroyed about an hour after going to bed. It got worse every day. It wasn't different that night. Groaning, she rolled from one side to the other, but nothing helped. "What's the matter?", Spencer drowsily asked and turned on the bedside lamp.
"Ugh...nothing...the babies are throwing a party in my belly", she explained and winced when a foot hit her kidney.
"Oh", Spencer simply said and scooted closer. Lucy smiled when he put his hands on her bump and gently stroked it. "Hey, babies. It's your daddy speaking. Listen, mommy can't sleep when you're kicking around in there. And mommy needs her sleep so she can be ready and fit for you to arrive." Spencer started to talk to Lucy's stomach and she had to hold back a laugh. It wasn't the first time he did this and whenever Spencer talked to the babies, Lucy just felt a warm feeling filling her chest. She had so much love for this man and he proved literally every day his love for her. When Spencer started to quote poems by Edgar Allan Poe, Lucy closed her eyes again and just listened to his soft, warm voice. She got carried away into dreamland and finally found some sleep, while Spencer turned off the light again and continued talking to the unborn babies for another half hour. He was glad Lucy could eventually get some sleep. He had been a bit worried about her lack of sleep although he sometimes was even worse when it came to insomnia. And there was a reason Lucy couldn't get some proper sleep anymore. It was normal, Spencer knew that. But still, he wished he could do more for his wife.
At some point, Spencer had fallen asleep as well and when Lucy woke up again in the middle of the night, he had wrapped an arm around her. She disengaged herself from his embrace and slowly got up. Something had woken her up and she wasn't quite sure what it had been. The babies weren't the reason for once. Lucy couldn't feel any kicks or movements. They must be sleeping, she thought. Yawning, she went to the bathroom. She had to pee a lot lately; the babies were laying on her bladder and the more they grew the more Lucy had to use the toilet.
Feeling sleepy, Lucy sat down on the toilet and rubbed her face. Damn, she could have been sleeping the whole night but nope, if it wasn't the babies who woke her up, of course it had to be something else. And then, just when Lucy had wanted to get up again, she saw it. Red stripes inside her panties. Blood. Blood that shouldn't be there. Blood that told Lucy something wasn't alright. And her heart skipped a beat before she screamed for Spencer.
