Chapter One

"Fantastic Alexa, just turn to the right slightly." I follow the photographers instructions and move my body. I continue to pose while the camera flashes away, photographing me. "Great, we're all finished." I step down from the stage and go over to where my manager, Megan, is.

"How was I?" She smiles, "Briliiant. And you have a week off now." I nod, and grab my phone. I see a few missed calls from my mother. I make a mental note to call her back later, and put my phone away. This has been my fourth modeling job in the past few days, so I'm pretty exhausted, and I just want to go home.

"I'm going to head home now, Megan. Is that okay?" I ask, grabbing my bags. She nods, "I'll see you in a couple weeks." I say goodbye to everyone else on the set and go to my car. I love my job, so much. I never thought I'd leave after a days working feeling as happy as I do right now.

So a bit about me, I am 19 years old, I live in London and I am a model. I finished school last year, and followed my career of modelling that had begun whilst I was in school. My parents wished for me to attend college this year, but it's not for me.

I drive home in the miserable winter weather of London, wanting nothing but a warm home cooked meal when I arrive at home. Unfortunately for me, I live alone and my cooking abilities are not up to scratch. So the only way for me to get a home cooked meal, is to go to my parents home which is six hours away.

I stopped to get take away on my way home, and when I finally arrived at my small but nice apartment, I went to the couch, pulled on a blanket, put on a movie and enjoyed my dinner. I know with being a model and all I should probably be watching my diet, but lucky for me I don't put on weight all too easily, and it's my week off anyway, time to pig out, I say!

When the movie is over, I grab my phone to call my mother. I wonder what she will want to debate me about today. That's the thing about her, whenever she calls it's to tell me that I need to do more with my life and I need to have more experiences. According to her, modelling is  a lost career and there is no point in pursuing it. She doesn't realise that I love modelling, and that should be all that really matters in my opinion.

"Hi mum, sorry I missed your calls earlier, I was at a photoshoot." I'm not really sorry, but I know I have to please her and she will be expecting an apology.

"That's fine sweetheart, how was it?" She asks. She always does this, acts interesting in my modelling life only to insult it moments later.

"It was good. I have a week off, I think I'll come and visit." I know visiting my mother will only mean more debates on what I should do with my life, but despite all that I do love my parents and I really do miss them.

"Oh, that's wonderful! When will you be here?" She asks. I grab my diary to check if I have anything on.

"Monday. Is that alright?" It's friday now so that means I have the weekend to prepare.

"That's great. I can't wait to have you here." She says, and I can imagine the smile on her face. I'm surprised she hasn't said anything about me 'career choice' as of yet.

"Well, I'm going to go pack. Bye mum, I'll see you monday." I avoid the conversation that is destined to come.

"Alright, bye Alexa." I hang up the phone. One point Alexa, zero points mum. I wonder how many points she's going to stack up the next week. I laugh thinking of all the comments sure to come my way about modelling.
