Prologue; Jungkook and Yeri have known each other since they were babies. He knows Yeri has an older sister, but he didn't expect to fall for her.
They met when Wendy moved from Canada—because of a foreign exchange student program— to Korea. She was sixteen at the time; Jungkook was fourteen. It didn't take him long to catch feelings at the mere sight of her. Who could blame him? She's a goddess!
He didn't like her just for her looks—that'd be too shallow for him. He liked her because she still made an effort to keep in touch with her family, Yeri especially. The distance didn't affect anything. He liked her for her bravery. She moved to Canada at the age of fourteen and lived with a host family. Learning foreign languages and being surrounded with non-Asians must have been challenging for her. Now, she's fluent in English and French. Her skills don't stop there. She can play several instruments and sing. A well-rounded girl who placed her family first. What's not to love about that? Too bad she didn't feel the same about him.
Upon arriving at the house, Yeri greeted her and introduced her to her best friend, Jungkook. To Wendy, that automatically equated to Jungkook being her brother since her little sister was really close to him.
She still viewed him as a brother—even when he confessed to her like a man. He walked into her classroom and asked her if they could talk. She followed him until they reached the front of the school. From there, he stared at her ardently.
"Wendy, I really like you. From the day Yeri introduced me to you, I saw you as more than her older sister."
Wendy stared at him sadly. "I don't see you as a man, Jungkook. You're like a little brother to me. You're too young. I'm sorry, but I can't return your feelings."
Jungkook was too shattered to form words. Anger then consumed him and he stated, "It's only a two-year age difference!"
With soft eyes, she answered, "That's a lot, Jungkook. You're still too young." She walked away feeling terrible.
