Prologue;
"I'm sorry, Ms. Son, but unfortunately, you don't have that much time to live," the doctor revealed.
"How much time do I have left?"
"We're looking at about a couple of days."
Wendy was stunned. "So the end is near."
Although I had expected this, it just sucks that I'm dying alone. I'm ready, but I just want to have someone by my side. As young as I am, you'd think I'd have a boyfriend already.
In retrospect, I wouldn't want my boyfriend to mourn over me. That's too sad.
"Look on the bright side: we still have time to find you a donor."
No, you don't. Who could possibly want to donate their heart to me now?
She fake smiled. "Thank you for your optimism."
"You're welcome, Ms. Son. Hang in there."
I don't know if I can.
"I will." She added another fake smile.
Exiting the room, she heaved an exhausted sigh. Tears fell, but she wiped them away.
There's no point in crying. I already knew I was going to die. Stupid heart failure.
She bumped into a stranger and her purse slid off her shoulder. Absently, she apologized and tried to grip her bag through her blurry vision. More tears clouded her eyes.
The kind stranger grabbed his handkerchief and wiped her tears. "Are you all right, Miss?"
No, not really.
"Yes, I am."
"I'm not quite sure about that."
She shrugged her shoulders.
"Rough day?"
"Rough days. Plural."
"I can definitely relate to you." He picked up her purse and handed it to her. In return, she thanked him. Her gaze lingered.
"It's my pleasure. I'd feel awful if you kept on crying; it was my fault we bumped into each other anyway. I should watch where I'm going."
She giggled. "To be fair, I wasn't watching where I was going either."
"Then I guess we should work on that."
"Yes, yes we should."
He extended his hand. "I'm Taehyung."
"Wendy. Nice to meet you."
He brought her hand to his mouth and kissed it. "The pleasure is all mine." Instantly, her cheeks flushed and a smile grew on her face.
"Do you have an appointment right now?"
"No, I'm free."
"Shall we get some coffee?"
Wendy frowned.
Coffee is so not good for my heart.
"Or tea?"
Tea is better.
She nodded. "Tea works."
