Wendy walks through the hallway, carrying her physics textbook and workbook tiredly. She had to study for an exam the night before.

She greets Irene, "Hey!"

"How are you? You look exhausted!" Irene says.

"Yeah, this physics test had me up all night."

Irene pats her back. "I wish you luck and strength! You can do this. I believe in you!"

Wendy smiles. "Thanks. I feel better."

Irene links her arm through Wendy's as they trudge through the hallway. Without paying attention, Wendy's foot steps on the water and slides, making her and her books fall.

She blows her bangs out of her face. "Which one of you removed the wet floor sign?" she huffs. "I don't think the janitor even placed a sign there," a bystander answers and starts guffawing. It seems as if his laughing is contagious because soon after laughter filled the hallway. Everyone was laughing. Even Irene!

"Irene! Why didn't you tell me the floor was wet?"

"I genuinely didn't see," she responds innocently, stifling a giggle. "Honest," she adds, releasing the fit of giggles.

Wendy's face turns bright red. She is so embarrassed she cannot bring herself to stand up. It's humiliating when your best friend doesn't even try to help you.

Pain suddenly courses through her body. She looks at her knees. They're scraped. "That's just great," she mutters under her breath.

She sees a hand in front of her. She looks up to find Hongbin. He asks her, "Are you all right?" She takes his hand as she responds, "Yeah, thanks for helping me, unlike someone here." Irene stops giggling and points at herself, mouthing, "Me?" Wendy scowls at Irene, and lowers herself to pick up her books, but Hongbin beats her to it.

"Here you go." He hands her the books. "Thanks again," Wendy replies with a smile. "No need to thank me, Wendy. Let's get you to the nurse's office."

Irene looks confused and turned to Wendy. "Why do you need to go to the nurse's?"

"Look at her knees," Hongbin answers. Irene examines Wendy's knees and sure enough, they're bleeding! She covers her mouth with fear.

"Wendy, I didn't know you were bleeding! I'm so sorry!"

Although Wendy is still upset at her for not intervening, she can't stay mad at her best friend. Besides, she's getting help from someone else. Not to mention, he's very cute.

"It's fine, Irene. I'll be heading to the nurse's now to clean my knees."

"I'm coming with you!"

"I think it's best if you stay here and wipe up the floor," Hongbin solemnly interjects.

"But Wendy is my best friend!" Irene counters.

"Yet you didn't help her!" Hongbin snaps.

Wendy steps in front of them and sticks her arms out. "Stop fighting you guys! I'm fine." She turns to Hongbin, "Please don't raise your voice at Irene. She means well." She then turns to Irene, "Can you stay here instead? You can just ask the janitor to clean up the water. I don't want anyone else to slip on the water and face what just happened to me. I'll call you later, okay?" Irene nods. Hongbin apologizes to Irene and she forgives him.

Hongbin turns around, grabbing her books, and Wendy follows him. Glancing at his face, Wendy blushes. "My hero," she thought. She turns around to spot Irene and winks at her. Irene chuckles as she looks for the janitor.

Hongbin and Wendy make it to the office and he requests for the nurse's assistance.

"Sit down on that bed, Wendy," he commands. Wendy listens.

The nurse arrives quickly. "What's the problem here?" she asks.

"I scraped my knees in the hallway."

"Did you trip?"

"No, there was water on the floor."

"And there was no sign?" Wendy nods.

"What is the janitor doing? Safety is one of our priorities. I'm glad Hongbin accompanied you. Did anyone else help you?"

Wendy shrugs. "The majority just laughed."

The nurse sighs. "Kids are so mean sometimes. Now let's get those scrapes disinfected and place some bandages over them."

Wendy smiles and thanks her. The nurse wipes Wendy's knees with rubbing alcohol and sticks bandages on them.

"You're free to leave now. Hongbin, help her to her class."

Wendy thanks her again and Hongbin leads the way out of the office. "Thanks for helping me."

"No problem," he says as he smiles. "I'm baffled over the fact that no one else did. Which class do you have right now?"

"Physics." He stops at Wendy's physics classroom. "See you tomorrow, Wendy."

"Bye, Hongbin." She is about to step into the classroom until Hongbin blurts out, "Can I have your number?"

Stunned but happy, she replies, "Sure." She grabs a pen from her backpack and writes her number on his forearm with blue ink. She turns around and once she's in the classroom, she hears his excitement.

"Yes!" he exclaims. She simply smiles.

I suck at updating and for that I'm truly sorry! Hope you enjoy nonetheless.
