It would be my first day of Freshman Year as I get out of the shower and quickly change into my gray shirt, jeans, and black vans, and grab my bag on the right side of my door with my right hand and run down the stairs into the kitchen to see Aunt Jenna and Elena, my older sister, in the kitchen. "Toast. I can make toast." Jenna says as Elena pours coffee with her right hand and hands offers it to me. "No thanks. Ice cold water is better in the morning and wakes you up more." I say and grab a granola bar with my right hand in the drawer on my left. "It's all about the coffee Aunt Jenna." Elena says as I start eating my Oat and Honey granola bar. "Is there coffee?" Jeremy, my older brother asks, walking in. "Your first day of school and I'm totally unprepared." Jenna says and Jeremy takes Elena's coffee with his right hand. "Your first day of school and I'm totally unprepared. Lunch money?" She asks, holding up money for us. "I'm good." "Yeah, me too." Elena and I say at the same time and Jeremy takes it with his left hand. "Anything else? A number two pencil? What am I missing?" Jenna asks. "Don't you have a meeting with your thesis advisor today?" I ask. "I'm meeting with my thesis advisor at.. now. Shit!" Jenna exclaims, running over to her purse and takes her hair down. "Then go. We'll be fine." Elena says and Jenna runs out the door. "You okay?" She asks Jeremy. "Don't start." He says and walks off, and she turns to me. "And you. How are you feeling?" She asks. "Nervous since it's my first day of Freshman Year. But I'll be okay." I say and we smile at each other.
I'm in the back seat of Bonnie's, Elena's best friend's, car as she's taking herself, Elena and I to school with Elena in the passenger seat. "So Grams is telling me I'm psychic. Our ancestors were from Salem, witches and all that, I know, crazy, but she's going on and on about it, and I'm like, put this woman in a home already! But then I started thinking, I predicted Obama and I predicted Heath Ledger, and I still think Florida will break off and turn into little resort islands.. Elena! Back in the car." Bonnie says, smiling at her after Elena zoomed out, again. "I did it again, didn't I? I--I'm sorry, Bonnie. You were telling me that.." Elena says. "That I'm psychic now." Bonnie says. "Right. Ok, then predict something." I say. "About me." Elena says and Bonnie sighs. "I see.." She starts and a crow hits the windshield, causing Bonnie to swerve the car and we all gasp. "What was that?! Oh, my god! Elena, Adam, are you two okay?" She asks. "It's okay, I'm fine." Elena says. "I'm okay, too." I say. "It was like a bird or something. It came out of nowhere." Bonnie says. "A crow to be exact." I say. "Really, I can't be freaked out by cars for the rest of my life." Elena says. "I predict this year is going to be kick ass. And I predict all the sad and dark times are over and you are going to be beyond happy." Bonnie says and they smile at each other. "What about me?" I ask. "I predict you will make an A on literally every subject here at the school." She says and we all laugh.
I ditch Elena and Bonnie to pick up my schedule from the front office and I'm standing behind a guy in a leather jacket, but not really paying attention as I pick at my nails on my right hand. "Excuse me?" A male voice asks and I look up at the guy with the leather jacket. "Hi." I say and smile at him, and he smiles back. "Do you by chance know where Tanner's class is? It's my first day." He says and I pick up my schedule from the desk in front of me with my right hand. "It's mine, too. But yes, I actually have that first period as well." I say, placing my schedule in my left hand and he offers a handshake and I shake it. He's so easy to talk to when I'm usually really shy around new people. "Stefan Salvatore." He says and we release. "Adam Gilbert. Salvatore as in the Salvatore Boarding House?" I ask and he nods. "Yeah, I'm staying with my Uncle." He says as we walk down the hallway. "And you also know.. about the town's history considering you're a Founding Family." I say and push my glasses up with my right index finger. "Yeah, I guess I am." He says and he and Elena accidentally bump into each other after she comes out of the men's room. Jeremy. "Uh, pardon me." Stefan says and looks confused. "Is this the men's room?" He asks. "Yes. Um, I was just.. it's a long story." She says and they try and walk past each other and he moves to the left side to let her pass. "Thank you." She says and walks off. "And that's my sister, Elena." I say.
