We're in Stefan's cell as he seems to be hallucinating. "Stefan. Stefan." Damon says. "Stefan, it's all a hallucination. You have to fight." I say. "Stefan. I love you, Stefan." Elena says and Damon leads us out of the cellar room.

Elena and I are watching Stefan sleep with his back turned to us through the bars. "It's so hard to see him locked up like this." Elena says. "You two are the ones that locked him up." Damon says. "You helped." I say as we look at him. "I couldn't have him running around chewing on people. While the town was looking for vampires, now, could I?" He asks, smiling at us. "It had nothing to do with you actually caring about him." Elena says. "Your guy's thing. Not mine." He says and walks off. We look back at Stefan behind the bars and walk off, too.

Elena and I walk into the the living room to see Damon holding the device piece that Pearl gave to him last night. "Did you ever figure out what that is?" I ask. "Nope. Whatever it is, it doesn't work." He says as Elena is putting some clothes into her bag. "Pearl didn't say anything else about it?" Elena asks. "She thought she was stealing his vampire compass, but that was a pocket watch. That Johnathan Gilbert was a crazy scientist. Have you two spoken to your uncle lately?" He asks. "I've been avoiding him, actually. That, and I've been here most nights." Elena says. "He's the one who told Jeremy and I about more Gilbert journals." I say. "So, you'll be here again tonight? Both of you?" He asks. "Yes." I say. "Is that a problem?" Elena asks. "Yes. You're a complete nuisance." Damon says, looking at Elena. "See you later." Elena says and her and I both head off to school.

I'm in Elena's room as she's dialing Damon and puts him on speaker phone. "What?" Damon asks. "I'm just grabbing some clothes, and then I'll be right over. How's Stefan?" Elena asks. "Extra broody. Hold on." He says and we hear the beep, and then another beep. "He won't eat anything." Damon says. "He has to eat. What's his favorite.. kind of, um.." Elena says. "His favorite kind of what?" Damon asks. "Type of animal blood that he prefers." I say. "Ew. Gross." Damon says. "Your joking doesn't help." Elena says and opens the closet door with her right hand as I take the phone with mine. "Helps me. Now, hurry up. I can't baby-sit all night. I have things to do." He says. "I would say 'drop dead' but.." Elena says. "Ha ha. Stefan likes.. puppy blood-- little golden retriever puppies with cute, floppy ears. That's his favorite. Or maybe even Puff the Magic Dragon. You know, from the story?" He asks. "Goodbye, Damon." I say and hang up, and slip Elena's phone into her right pocket, and we turn around, seeing John after she closes her closet. "Sorry." He says. "Uncle John. I didn't see you there." Elena says. "I thought we could talk. We haven't had a chance to catch up. All three of us." He says. "We're actually just heading out, so.." Elena says as he walks in and we walk to the door. "Well, it won't take long." He says. "What did you want to talk about?" I ask as he picks up a picture of Mom and Dad with his right hand and sets it down. "Well.. I know you both know." He says. "Know what?" I ask. "It's really silly to keep pretending. What do you think your mother would say. If she knew you were dating a vampire?" He asks. "Which mother?" She asks and turns around, walking off.

Elena and I arrive back to the cellar to look to see Stefan sitting up on the bed. "How you feeling?" I ask and see the bottle of blood on the floor. "Damon says you need to drink that." I say and Stefan shakes his head. "You need it, Stefan. Can't survive without it." I say and he looks up at me. "I don't want to survive." He says. "What? No, don't say that." Elena says. "I'm sorry, Elena, Adam. No more. After what I've done, it has to end. I just want it over." He says.

Elena and I are in the living room, sitting on the couch; her on my left side and we're talking with Damon. "He's just being dramatic. He's not gonna starve himself." He says. "Why would he say that?" I ask. "He feels bad about hurting that girl. It's a very typical Stefan martyr stuff. It will pass." He says. "Will it? Because he seemed to be in a lot of pain." Elena says. "Yeah. Well, that will pass, too, once he eats." He says. "She didn't mean physical pain." I say. "I know what you meant. Look, are you gonna be okay here if I have to run out? I have to go to an errand with the teacher. And Adam, you're coming with." He says. "The teacher? Alaric? Are you two friends now?" I ask. "I don't have any friends, Adam." He says. "Right." Elena says. "You should, um, you should stay up here. You shouldn't be down there by yourself." He says as he goes to the chair and puts his jacket on. "I'll be fine." She says. "You know.. you're very trusting of him, given the circumstances." He says. "So are you. Otherwise, you and Adam wouldn't be leaving." She says as I walk over to Damon. "We won't be long." Damon says.
