I'm walking with Elena and Bonnie to the school after we get out of Bonnie's car. "I'm not saying don't date the guy. I'm just saying take it slow." Bonnie says and Elena points at her with her left index finger. "You were the one who said to go for it." She says. "She's right, Bonnie. You did say that." I say. "Now I'm saying take it slow." Bonnie says and Bonnie has an about-face. "Why the about-face?" I ask. "It's not an about-face. You're single for the first time in your entire high school career, Elena. It's the perfect time to play the field." Bonnie says and Elena laughs. "Because I am so that girl. Seriously, what are you not saying?" Elena asks. "It's stupid." Bonnie says. "Bonnie.." I say and Elena stops her, and we stop walking. "What?" Bonnie asks. "Spit it out." Elena says. "I accidentally touched Stefan. And I got a really bad feeling." Bonnie says. "Is that it?" Elena asks and Bonnie's about to walk off and she grabs her wrist. "Bonnie." Elena says. "It was bad bad!" Bonnie exclaims. "Is this the whole witch mojo thing again?" Elena asks. "The whole psychic thing?" I ask, confused. "Yes, that thing." Elena says. "You know what? I'm just concerned. This is me expressing concern about my best friend's new boyfriend." Bonnie says and Elena puts her hands on Bonnie's shoulders. "And I love you for it, I do. But I feel good. It's been a hard year, and I'm starting to kind of feel like things are getting back to normal again. And you know what? Stefan is a big part of that." She says and they smile at each other.
We're still walking and Stefan walks over to us. "Good morning, Elena. Good morning, Bonnie. And good morning, Adam." He says, smiling at all of us. "Good morning, Stefan." I say and smile back. "Hey, um, I gotta find Caroline. She's not answering her phone. So I'll see you guys later." Bonnie says and walks off as we look at her. "Bonnie, wait.." Elena says and sighs. "She doesn't like me very much." Stefan says and we look at him. "She doesn't know you. She's my best friend, she's just looking out for me. But when she does, she will love you." Elena says. "Aunt Jenna already does." I say. "Here's what we're gonna do. Are you free tonight?" Elena asks. "Yes." Stefan says as we all stop walking. "Perfect. Dinner, my house. Eight o'clock. You, me, Bonnie." Elena says and looks at me. "And you. So Bonnie doesn't feel like the third wheel." She says and looks back at Stefan. "You and Bonnie will spend some quality time and she'll get to see what a great guy you are. Mission accomplished." Elena says, smiling and Stefan chuckles, and he quickly turns around to catch the football that Tyler threw at him; catching it with both hands and throws it back, with Tyler nearly falling and Elena and I both chuckle.
I'm in Tanner's class as we're talking about World War two. "World war II ended in.. Anyone got anything? Miss Juan?" Tanner asks. "Nineteen forty five." I say without looking up from my notebook. "Correct as always, Mr. Gilbert." Tanner says and I hear Elena and Stefan whispering. "Psst. FYI...Our team sucks. They could use you." She whispers. "Can't." Stefan whispers. "Pearl Harbor." Tanner says. "I'm a loner." Stefan whispers and Elena and I both laugh. "Miss Gilbert?" Tanner asks and Elena turns around. "Hm?" She asks. "Pearl Harbor?" Tanner asks. "Um.." Elena says and Stefan interrupts her. "December seventh, nineteen forty-one." Stefan says and Elena and I look at him, smiling. "Thank you, Miss Gilbert." Tanner says, smiling as we all look at him and laugh. "Any time." Stefan says. "Very well. The Fall of the Berlin Wall." Tanner says. "Nineteen eighty-nine. I'm good with dates, sir." Stefan says. "Are you? How good? Keep it to the year. Civil Rights Act." Tanner says and we all look at Stefan. "Nineteen sixty-four." He says. "John F. Kennedy Assassination." Tanner says. "Nineteen sixty-three." Stefan says. "Martin Luther King." Tanner says. "Sixty-eight." Stefan says. "Lincoln." Tanner says. "Eighteen sixty-five." Stefan says as we see Tanner move closer and closer. "Roe vs. Wade." Tanner says. "Nineteen seventy-three." Stefan says. "Brown vs. Board." Tanner says. "Nineteen fifty-four." Stefan says. "Battle of Gettysburg." Tanner says. "Eighteen sixty-three." Stefan says. "Korean War." Tanner says. "Nineteen fifty to nineteen fifty-three." Stefan and I say at the same time. "Ha! It ended in fifty-two." Tanner says, chuckling and Tanner walks back towards his desk. "Uh, actually, sir, it was fifty three." Stefan says and Tanner turns around. "Look it up, somebody. Quickly." Tanner says. "It was nineteen.. fifty-three." A male student says as we all look at him and we all clap for Stefan.
