I'm at Town Square, walking around as Carol Lockwood is giving a speech for Illumination Night, looking for Dad and Jeremy. "As a long time member of the Historical Society, I am especially proud to be kicking off this day of festivities. Thank you, volunteers. Tonight, we turn off our town's lights and flare up our lanterns in honor of the night of illumination started by our founders a hundred and fifty years ago. Here's founding family member Tobias Fell with a history lesson." She says and people clap and cheer. I find Dad and Jeremy, and walk over to them. "Hi, sorry I'm late. What did I miss?" I ask. "You didn't miss anything." Jeremy says. "The first illumination was held in celebration with the newfound prosperity that Mystic Falls enjoyed after the war." Tobias says and Jeremy laughs. "What's so funny?" I ask, looking at him. "What's so funny?" I ask and he looks at the stage, and I turn around, looking at it, too and see Tobias Fell, talking. "The Founders, they placed lanterns over the doors to indicate that it was safe for their neighbors to come outside again. That night was an opportunity for the community of Mystic Falls to come together, a chance to strengthen ties with neighbors, business owners." He says.

We're sitting outside the Grill with Elena as she has ber bag full of Stefan's journals. "Hi, Jer, I need you to help me with something." She says "What's up?" He asks and she takes out Stefan's journals. "I've been going through Stefan's old journals. Every single time that he's gone off the rails in the past, his best friend Lexi's been the one to bring him back." She says and I open one of them with my right hand. "So where is she now that we need her?" Dad asks. "She's dead. And you want me to try and reach her, don't you?" Jeremy asks as Elena and I look at him. "I thought if I knew how she did it, maybe I could help him." Elena says. "I don't even know if she's on the Other Side." Jeremy says. "Is that what it's called?" I ask. "That's what Anna calls it. There's not like an official brochure or anything." He says. "So what is it, like some sort of Supernatural Purgatory?" Dad asks, as we look at him. "Well, Anna said it's like being here with all of us, only we can't see her or hear her. And she can't interact with anyone. She's all alone." Jeremy says as I look at him. "Vicki could interact. She blew up my car, trying to murder Adam." Dad says. "Vicki had help from a witch on the Other Side. Anna-- she's doing this all by herself." Jeremy says. "I'm just saying, maybe we learned our lesson about summoning dead people." Dad says.

"Do you think it's even possible to contact Lexi?" I ask. "I don't know. I didn't have an emotional connection with her. I never even met her." Jeremy says, handing them the journals to Dad. "Can we just drop it, please?" Dad asks. "No, I can't drop it, Ric. I don't know what else to do." Elena says, looking at him. "Don't you think we have a few too many dead vampires in our past to be sitting here thinking of them watching us?" Dad asks, and I turn to Jeremy as he's looking to his right at the chair next to him. "Is Anna here right now?" I ask. "No, no. I'm going to go, uh, check my work schedule." He says and gets up, and I look at Dad. "Hey, guys." Stefan says as we look at him and he smiles, and sits in Jeremy's seat. "You forgot to invite me to the Family Summit? Hm?" He asks and picks up one of his journals with his right hand, and I sigh, and he opens it. "Wow. All these words. I forgot how much I used to care." He says as I have my hands on the table. "I didn't." Elena says and Stefan touches her left hand, gently, holding it, after setting his journal down after closing it. "You know, Elena, it's probably best you not torture yourself with memories from the past. It's best we both just move on and accept things as they are." He says. "You don't have to be here, Stefan." Dad says as we look at him. "You know what, Alaric, you're right. I don't. But Elena and Adam are here and I look out for them. Besides, there's going to be people everywhere tonight. So there's going to be lots to eat." He says and we look at him, and he laughs. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding, loosen up." He says and kisses Elena's hand, and lets it go, standing up, while touching her left shoulder, and puts his hand down, and walks off, and I sigh, and look at Alaric. "I can't drop it, Ric." Elena says, shaking her head.

I'm in the bar with Dad and Damon walks over to us. "You know, I've had enough vampires today, thanks." Dad says. "Oh, come on. Have a drink with me. We've got trouble." Damon says. "Only if you're buying and I'm not touching anything alcoholic." I say and smile at both of them. "No, you've got trouble. See, we're not a team. You tried to kill me. All right? We're not friends. I don't like you anymore." Dad says as Damon steps in front of him. "He's tried to kill us all before. You'll get used it." I say and Damon chuckles. "Ah! But remember back when you liked me and we conspired to kill Uncle werewolf Mason Lockwood?" Damon asks. "Yeah, and?" Dad asks. "Why? What's going on?" I ask. "I think he's still a little pissed." Damon says.

We're sitting at the bar as I'm in between them both; Damon on my right and someone takes his glass with their right hand, and we look at Mason Lockwood. "Mason." I say. "God, I miss whiskey." Mason says and downs Damon's drink, and smashed it on Damon's forehead, and he looks at Dad and I. "Told you so." He says.

We're still at the bar as Damon is looking at his phone in both hands as he's texting Caroline after learning that she needs Elena's necklace in order to send all the ghosts back. "I am never going to hear the end of that damn necklace." He says and we look at Mason as he's holding a shot of whiskey in his right hand. "One of you will pay for this, right? Cheers." He says, smiling at us and downs the shot. "Let's get to it. I killed you. You want revenge. Get in line." Damon says. "Actually, I want an apology." Mason says and Dad and I both laugh. "Good luck with that." He says. "You have a better chance of coming back to life for real." I say. "Don't you have a family to haunt? You know your nephew has turned into a mindless hybrid minion." Damon says. "That's why I'm here. To help Tyler." Mason says and Damon scoffs. "Well, sorry to break it to you, buddy, but Tyler can't be helped. At least not while Klaus is alive. Which is, like, always." Damon says. "Not necessarily. Not if you found a weapon that could kill him." Mason says. "There is no weapon that-- what do you know?" Damon asks. "I know you need to apologize." Mason says. "You got to be kidding me." Damon says. "Are you incapable of remorse? Just apologize!" Dad exclaims. "Wait for it." I say and sip on my Lime Pepsi. "You're right. I didn't have to kill you. I do a lot of things I don't have to do." Damon says and Mason laughs. "That's good enough." He says and stands up. "Meet me at the old Lockwood cellar. Bring a shovel." He says and looks at Dad and I, and back to Damon. "And come alone." He says. "What, you're going to bury me alive?" Damon asks and Mason smiles. "Don't tempt me." He says and walks off, and Damon looks at Dad and I.
