I'm walking to the door with Elena as we're heading to school. "Come on Jeremy, going to school. Walking out the door now." Elena says. "You forgot this." Jenna says as we look at her and she puts Elena's thermos in her bag that's in her right hand, and Elena smiles. "Thank you." She says and I open the door with my right hand, and we see Uncle John. "Adam. Elena." He says, smiling at us both. "Uncle John. Hi." I say and smile back at him, and he looks at Jenna. "Jenna." He says. "John. You made it." She says. "Said I'd be in by noon." He says, walking in. "Oh what you say and what you do are typically two very different things." Jenna says and we see Jeremy walking down the stairs. "Uncle John. What's up?" He says. "Hey." John says and Jeremy walks past us. "I had some business in town. I thought that a visit was in order." John says. "How long are you staying?" I ask. "I don't know yet." He says. "Okay, well. Adam and I are gonna go to school, I'll see you later." Elena says and we walk out the door, and look back at Jenna, and she shuts the door.

I'm with Elena and Matt by his locker as we're talking about Uncle John. "He said his trip is open-minded." Elena says. "Uncle John, I never really liked that guy." Matt says. "Does anyone?" She asks. "I do. He's cool. And Jeremy likes him, too." I say. "I'm here for moral support if you need me." Matt says. "Thanks, I think I'll suffer this one alone. Since you've been through enough and Adam is on Team John." She says and I laugh. "Thank you two by the way, for just-- for everything you guys did at Vicki's funeral and the memorial. I couldn't have done it without you both." He says. "Of course, Matt." I say and there's a long pause. "So, was Caroline still baking for you guys, around the clock?" Elena asks. "She finally went to her dad's, which is a good thing because my mom was going to strangle her if she dropped off one more lasagna." He says and we walk off after he closes his locker.

I'm in Alaric's classroom with Elena after he called us in, as he's sitting on his desk and grabs a paper off of it with his right hand. "I made a copy of a paper Jeremy wrote for me. I think you should take a look at it." He says and hands it to me and I read the title to myself while Elena looks at it over my left shoulder, and I'm holding the paper in my right hand. Fact or Fiction: The Truth About Vampires in Mystic Falls. "Jeremy wrote this?" Elena asks. "He's very clear that he didn't think it was real." He says. "I really hope you're right because I've done so much to protect him from all of this." Elena says and I hand him back the paper. "So, how do you two deal with it?" He asks. "Deal with what?" I ask. "With all the lies and the secrets. You two have to lie to everyone who's important to you." Alaric says. "It's not safe for them to know the truth. So, yes we keep it from them, but it's only because we love them." Elena says and there's a long pause, and Alaric stands up, and goes to stand behind his desk. "I think Stefan is a good guy. But at the end of the day he's still a vampire." He says. "I know it's hard to understand but Stefan is different. He would never do anything to hurt us." I say.

I'm sitting in the kitchen with Jenna standing in front of us and I'm in between Jeremy and John; John on my right side and we're eating Chinese food. "I've no interest in the Founders' Day Kick-off Party." Jeremy says. "Sure you do, it's tradition." John says. "It will be our role to break the tradition." Jenna says. "Well, at least I like the party." I say. "The Gilberts have been a part of this town for a hundred and fifty years. We're one of the founding families and with that distinction comes certain obligations including going to the party. One day, when you can appreciate the significance, I'll tell you all about your heritage." John says to Jeremy. "Hm, the Gilbert family legacy. I forgot how sacred it was. I'm not a Gilbert so I was never cool enough to hear it." Jenna says as we look at her and back to John. "Why does she hate you?" Jeremy and I say at the same time. "We used to sleep together." He says and we see a bag hit him, and Jeremy and I both dodge it, laughing. "I'm standing right here." Jenna says and I open my fortune cookie with my right hand, and look at it confused. "What? Bad fortune?" Jenna asks. "The person who loves you the most will be ancient and dangerous." I say, reading the fortune. "Huh. What a strange fortune." She says.
