Elena, Jeremy and I are at home as we're painting the walls gray. "Going darker, huh?" Stefan asks, walking in as we look at him. "It's the only color we had." I say. "That's what happens when you decide to paint your dead guardian's room in the middle of the night." Jeremy says. "I don't suppose anyone tried to talk you guys out of doing this.. so soon." Stefan says. "We have to keep moving. Otherwise we'll start thinking and we don't want to think." Elena says, getting more paint onto her roller that's in her right hand, and so do I, and go back to painting the wall. "Want a hand?" Stefan asks. "So, are you two like back together or something?" Jeremy asks as we look at him. "Jeremy." I say. "What? No, Jer, we're just--" Elena says and Stefan interrupts her. "I-- I was just checking up on you guys. Seeing how you were doing, after everything." Stefan says. "We're fine. But, if you are trying to be the good guy again, why don't you do the right thing and give us one day. Just one day without any vampires in it." Jeremy says and walks off, and Elena sets her roller down, and walks over to Stefan. "He didn't mean that." She says. "Yeah.. yeah, he did." Stefan says and the doorbell rings. "I'll get that." Stefan says and walks off.
I hear my phone ring and pull it out of my right pocket, and see it's Dad's contact calling me, and answer it, putting it on speaker. "Whoever this is, it's not funny." I say. "Well, who else would it be?" Dad asks. "Dad?" I ask and Elena and I look at each other. "Ric?" Elena asks. "Listen closely, I'm at the school, I have Caroline, and if you want to keep her alive, I need you to get in your car and come down here right away. If you tell anyone where you are going, I will kill her." Dad says and hangs up.
Elena and I arrive to the school and hear Caroline groaning, and run into Dad's class room to see him sitting in his chair, and Caroline with a gag in her mouth, and pencils in her hands. "Caroline!" Elena exclaims and we look at Dad. "Let her go, Alaric." Elena says and Dad signals us to her with his right hand, and puts it down. "Free her yourself." Dad says and Eleba and I run over to her, and help pull the pencils out, but Dad appears and slams it back in as Caroline screams, and we look at him. "You said that you would let her go!" I exclaim. "How many times do I have to tell you, Adam, Elena? Stop trusting vampires!" He exclaims.
We're sitting in the classroom as Dad is re-soaking Caroline's gag in vervain as her mouth is already red. "No, no more, please, no more!" She exclaims, groaning and Elena stands up. "Alaric, stop!" Elena exclaims and Dad pushes her back down with his right hand. "Sit down!" He exclaims and puts the gag back on Carolinr as she gasps and groans. "This keeps the vervain in her system. It's like inhaling razorblades with every breath." Dad says as Elena touches Caroline's right arm. "Why are you doing this?" I ask. "To make it easier on you when you put her out of her misery." Dad says, walking over to me with the white oak stake in his right hand. "What?! No." I say, shaking my head. "Isn't this what you wanted, Adam? You too, Elena. For me to teach you how to kill a vampire?" Dad asks and points at Caroline with it. "Well, here's a vampire, Adam. Kill her." Dad says, offering me the stake. "This isn't what I want." I say and he looks at Elena. "Then you do it. All those hours you spent training, getting stronger, you could be a hunter, Elena. But you've never actually staked a vampire through the heart." He says as Elena stares at the stake.
"Why are you doing this?" Elena asks and Dad looks at her. "Because you need me. Because you're an eighteen-year-old girl without parents or guidance or any sense of right and wrong anymore." He says. "Look at you. How is this right?!" Elena exclaims and he points at Caroline with the stake. "She's a murderer. She told me she killed someone and liked it. Now how is that right? Listen, Elena, your parents led the council. It was their life's mission to keep this town safe. They weren't dead six months before you undid it all." Dad says, walking over to Elena after putting his hand down. "You don't know anything about them." I say and he looks at me. "Why, am I wrong? Do you actually think that they'd be proud of you?" He asks and kneels in front of me. "If you don't side with the humans, you're just as bad as them." Dad says and looks at Elena. "Now kill her." He says and offers her the stake. Or I'll do it for you and I'll make it hurt. Get up!" He exclaims, grabbing her right arm and drags her over to Caroline, and places the stake in her right hand. She raises it and turns to Dad, about to stab him but he catches it her hand with his right, pulling her forward. "I thought I taught you better than that." Dad says. "You did." Elena says and breaks the glass over Dad's face, as he staggers onto the floor, groaning and Elena and I help release the pencils, and she takes the gag out of Caroline's mouth. "Get help!" Elena exclaims and Caroline and I run off together, and she grabs my right hand, dashing us away from the classroom and lets my hand go, but someone covers my mouth from behind, and hers, and I see Klaus. "It's okay, it's okay." Kol whispers in my ear and I look at him. "It's us. You're okay. You're safe. We'll save Elena. You go straight home. You stay inside, do you understand?" I hear Klaus say and turns Caroline to make her look at him. "Do you understand me?" He asks and she nods. "Thank you." She says. "You too, darling." Kol says and kisses my right cheek, and dshses off with Klaus.
I slowly wake up, feeling a needle being place in my right arm, and I gasp. "Be careful. Moving only makes it hurt more." A blonde nurse says as I look at her, and then Elena next to me, and see our blood is being drawn. "What are you doing?" Elena asks. "Draining you of all your blood." Klaus says as we look at him, and I realize I'm tied to a chair, and so is Elena and we see Tyler walk in with a box of stuff. "Elena? Adam?" Tyler asks and sets the box down. "Tyler! Help us!" I exclaim and he starts walking towards us. "He can't." Klaus says and Tyler stops as we look at Klaus. "He can't. He needs to go fetch me more empty blood bags. About six liters' worth, please Tyler." He says as Tyler looks back at us. "Tyler, please.." Elena and I both say at the same time. "Get Stefan. Please." Elena says. "No, Tyler. Get the bags." Klaus says and Tyler takes a step towards us, and Klaus appears in front of him. "Forget them and get the bags. Now." Klaus says and Tyler walks off, and Klaus walks behind Elena's chair. "So that's it? You're just going to bleed us dry?" Elena asks. "Yes, but don't worry, it'll be completely painless. As the last drop is drawn, you two will simply fall asleep." Klaus says. "After everything I've done to help you?" I ask. "Nothing personal, love. Just business." He says.
"What about your hybrids? You'll need more than this to create your army." Elena says, weakly as a nurse walks by Klaus and he takes a blood bag with his right hand. "These last few liters will have to suffice. You see, by attempting to kill us, my mother strengthened the bond between my siblings and I. I don't need hybrids. I have my family." He says. "If you believe that, then why take our blood at all? You want a backup family. You know that your siblings will never trust you again." Elena says. "Especially Kol for doing this to me." I say. "He'll get over himself like he's done for a thousand years." He says and walks over to Elena. "You know Stefan blames me for trying to tear him from his brother, but I think we both know who really came between them. You. That's why you won't choose. You know once you pick a Salvatore, you'll destroy their bond." He says and moves closer to her. "Consider this me doing you a favor. Once you're dead, you won't have to choose. No broken hearts. Their family stays intact. But just between us girls, who would you have picked?" He asks, smiling. "Rot in hell." Elena says. "You're welcome. Sweet dreams, Elena, Adam. It's been fun." He says and walks off.
We're trying to get out of the chairs and we see Tyler running over to us, and take the ropes off. "What are you doing?" I ask and he shushes me, and I see Klaus behind him. "Tyler.." I say. "So much for that sire bond." Klaus says. "I'm not your little bitch anymore." Tyler says and Klaus smiles, walking towards us. "How did you break the sire bond?" He asks. "By breaking every bone in my body a hundred times for the girl I love." Tyler says. "That's impossible." Klaus says. "Is it?" Tyler asks and walks over to him. "Or maybe real love is stronger than fake loyalty. But what would you know about that?" Tyler asks. "You know, you should be thanking me. I gave you a gift. I took away your misery." Klaus says. "You didn't give a crap about me! You just didn't want to be alone!" Tyler exclaims and helps Elena and I both up. "Come on." He says as we have our arms around his neck and Klaus dashes in front of us, and Elena and I hit our heads, going unconcious after Klaus grabs Tyler.
I slowly wake up to feel someone's hands on my shoulders. "Darling, are you okay?" Kol asks as I look at him and nod. "Come on." He says and I feel him lift me up as I put my arms around his neck and his hands are under my legs, and he dashes off as I fall unconcious again.
