Even though Christmas was Jeongguk's all time favorite holidays, he really wanted Christmas eve to be over sooner than later. As usual, Jeongguk had to spend the holidays with his mom, but this year was different.

"Mom, where's the tree?" Jeongguk asked as he entered the house after a particularly long last day before the Christmas break. It was December 20th, the day a Christmas tree was typically to be found in the middle of the small living room of Jeongguk's house. But not this year.

His mother walked into the living room from the kitchen, looking exhausted. She was wearing an apron, and had flour in her hair. When she saw her son, she changed the tired expression into a small smile.

"I'm sorry baby, the– it's not here this year, I'm sorry." Jeongguk furrowed his brows, as his mother ran her hand over her messy bun. "Mom has to.. Work more than she had to before. I do have a solution, don't worry hun."

Strange, he thought.

"Will we get a Christmas tree?" His mom hesitated before answering.

"I don't know, baby."

Jeongguk's bottom lib wobbled, but he decided to keep his head down to hide it. He knew deep down that it wasn't his mother's fault, but he had spent the entire day looking forward to decorating the tree with his mother.

It didn't help that the older boys found Jeongguk rather fun to mess with. It had resulted in his tiny lunchpack getting stolen, and some of the papers for the different classes disappearing out of nowhere. What had hurt Jeongguk the most wasn't the stolen papers or lunch.

It was the word 'poor' written over the small boys desk for his math class that had stung in his chest.

Sure, he wore old clothes a few sizes too big, but so what. His mother loved him, even though they lived in a small house, and he had his bestest of best friends. Except, he was far away, unlike his mother.

The small boy hid his head under the pillow, and closed his eyes, hoping Christmas would at least turn out okay.

Unfortunately, a Christmas tree didn't show up the 24th, and Jeongguk fell asleep on Christmas eve, not sure whether he should trust in Santa or not.

"Taee!"

Jeongguk jumped into the arms of the older, burying his head in the crook of his neck.

"I've missed you lots." He mumled, and Taehyung grabbed his shoulders too look him in the eyes. His eyes almost twinkled as he looked down at the younger, before pulling him into a hug, trying not to focus on those lips.

"Hey, you too Gukkie. I haven't seen you since my birthday." Jeongguk frowned and nodded. Had it really been that long?

It was late spring, and Taehyung had returned home for one of the rarer home-weekends. In the beginning of his boarding school accommodation, many home-weekends had been arranged, but as the time progressed, and Tae had entered a new year, the weekends became fewer and rarer.

But Taehyung was finally home again, and was more than ready to spend as much time with Jeongguk as possible. Taehyung grabbed his hand and led him out of his driveway.

"Where are we going?"

"We're going fishing. I'm determined to teach you how to fish." Jeongguk giggled, and followed Taehyung into the shed and then towards the lake.

When they arrived at the lake, Taehyung placed the fishing rods on the ground, as he went into the cabin to retrieve a mat for them to sit on. Jeongguk waited patiently, as he started looking at all the fishing equipment Taehyung had. Some of them looked rather strange, and he was quick to put it back into the box.

Soon, Taehyung arrived with a mat in his hand, and a huge boxy smile plastered over his face. Jeongguk giggle-smiled at him, and stood up as Taehyung put the mat down under him.

"Thanks Tae." Taehyung smiled at him, as he picked up a rod.

"No problem Gukkie. Let's get to it shall we?"

The younger nodded, and grabbed his own rod before looking what Taehyung did, and copying it as he listened to the soothing voice of the older.

He decided to look up at Taehyung, and started admiring his features instead of listening to his endless blabber about the fishing rod. It was as if time went by slower when he took in all of the details of the older's face.

The way his eyelashes gracefully fluttered as he blinked, his beauty-spots speckled over his face filling the canvas of his skin with perfect imperfections. His forming jawline was apparent as he spoke, and his smooth skin moved as it made space for his lips to move as his voice flooded Jeongguk's ears in a soothing melody.

Taehyung was looking at the lake, while Jeongguk was looking at him instead. His eyes travelled down his face, and ended up on his lips. They were a faded pink, only moisturized by his tongue ever so often. Jeongguk found himself being lost in the movement of them as the older spoke softly.

As he pulled his fishing line towards him, he noticed that Jeongguk wasn't listening soon after, looking over to see the younger boy staring directly at him. He blinked a few times, soon gaining eye contact with Jeongguk, before smiling softly without teeth showing.

"What's up Guk?" Taehyung said softly, placing his hand on the mat closer to Jeongguk and leaning towards him. Jeongguk didn't answer, but continued studying the older's face, both sides of it apparent now.

Taehyung found himself leaning closer to the younger boy, continuing to lean on his hand for support.

Suddenly, the younger's lips were on Taehyung's.

If he said he had seen it coming he would be lying. His eyes wide open, as he stared directly into Jeongguk's. It was soft, very soft, just a quick peck, but Taehyung felt his world standing still.

Soon enough, the kiss was over, and Jeongguk pulled away, a faint blush spreading over his cheeks.

"Jeongguk–" Taehyung stopped, completely and utterly baffled by Jeongguk's action. The younger now looked away, blush, slowly but steadily, taking over his entire face.

"I didn't mean for it, it just suddenly happened– I don't know what–" He was cut off, as Taehyung softly grabbed his chin, turning his face towards Taehyung again, before the older leaned in, and softly connected their lips again, his eyes closed this time.

Jeongguk gasped lightly, but kept his lips pressed against Taehyung's. It was not unbearable at all. Actually, It was very nice.

Soon enough, the two pulled away simultaneously, both giggling quietly.

Taehyung sighed as he lied down on the mat, both arms behind his head whilst looking up at the sky, smiling widely. Jeongguk was quick to lay down beside him, also looking up at the sky.

"So that happened." Taehyung muttered, not even sure what happened himself. "It was something."

"Something good?"

"Definitely."
