As soon as Jeongguk heard those words leave Kiana's mouth, his mind instantly went to two plans. Either being stiff as a plank and highkey hoping Taehyung wont notice, or hiding without gaining any attention. He chose the latter.

Before Kiana had time to ask about Jeongguk's old friend, he found himself running towards another freshman standing by his locker looking at his schedule, while cursing midly under his breath.

He stopped by the locker, just before colliding with the other boy. The freshman gasped slightly as Jeongguk smoothly slid into hiding behind the locker in a hurry. Jeongguk looked up at the boy with one finger over his mouth and wide eyes. The unknown boy looked rather startled, having his schedule in his left hand, waiting for an explanation.

"Hiding." Jeongguk whispered. The other boy nodded understandingly, and returned his focus to the items inside of the locker, not minding Jeongguk much.

It must look funny, Jeongguk thought. Two pairs of legs standing behind a locker, belonging to two new freshman boys. Jeongguk stiffened suddenly. What if Taehyung could recognize his leg shape? Improbable, Jeongguk reminded himself.

Jeongguk slowly looked past the locker, only to see the group of sophomores gone, and a rather pissed Kiana standing with her arms crossed in the middle of the hallway. Jeongguk just gave her a sheepish smile. He then decided to go back to her, only to receive a smack on the head as soon as he stopped in front of her.

"What the heck, Jeongguk. Why did you have to pull that stunt."

"I couldn't have Taehyung seeing me." Kiana looked stunned for a moment before clearing her throat, regaining her calm expression.

"Why not?" Jeongguk thought about it for a while.

"I'm scared."

Kiana's expression softened, and she sighed, holding on tightly to the straps of her backpack. Jeongguk was not really sure about what he was actually scared about, but he remembered the feeling of his chest tightening and his throat constricting when he saw Taehyung.

It felt unreal. The way the older boy was able to leave Jeongguk breathless without even realizing it, let alone noticing him. It scared Jeongguk so much. His lip trembled, and he hugged himself.

"I just don't want him to look at me with disgust. I'm afraid of what he'll think or say to me when he sees me again. I guess I am just scared of facing and accepting what happened all those months ago. I know, that when I see him and our eyes meet, I'll have to accept that this is simply just how it is." Jeongguk took a deep breath before finishing. "I just don't want to accept it."

"Oh my god Guk, you are still thinking about him! But why that dicktwat? Just ignore him, he doesn't deserve the attention."

Jeongguk fiddled with the sleeves of his shirt.

"It's not that simple."

A couple weeks into Jeongguk's first year at high school, all freshmen were called to the school field. As soon as they arrived, Jeongguk noticed how their teacher was standing in front of all the sophomores. Jeongguk's chest tightened.

"Hello everybody! In recent years we've decided to indulge everybody of the two youngest grades to chat about how much difference a year in high school feels, and just to let out your feelings to somebody who can relate to them.
