Today was a good day for Jeongguk.
The freshmen and sophomores finally finished their joint project, and Jeongguk didn't have to spend every day at school looking in Taehyung's direction anymore, secretly hoping that he would notice the younger staring. Which he didn't. Jeongguk had mixed feelings about it.
However, to put his focus elsewhere, Jeongguk had joined some different groups. By Kiana's suggestion, he had joined the Dance club (joined by a surprising amount of boys as well). He joined the Taekwondo and Soccer club out of sheer interest, and joined the Photography club because of his love for the hobby.
Totally not because Taehyung was part of it.
As Jeongguk continued down the hallway, having an internal conversation with none other than himself, Kiana suddenly popped up by his side. Jeongguk didn't notice her at first, but almost had a heart attack when he looked to his side to see the brunette by his side.
"What'cha doing?" She asked slyly, and stopped when Jeongguk did. Jeongguk placed a hand on his chest, and took a deep breath, glaring at her slightly.
"Atleast warn me before scaring the living hell out of me, will ya?"
She snorted at him, and continued the walk towards the canteen. Jeongguk had no choice other than to follow her, and so he did.
"I actually meant to ask you about something." She muttered. Jeongguk's entire body stiffened. Things never ended well when they started like that.
"It's about Taehyung–" she continued, but didn't get a chance to finish, before Jeongguk sped down the hallway full speed. He didn't manage to get out of her sight, because suddenly she grabbed him by the collar, and yanked him back. He uttered something close to an 'oof' sound, as he was being pulled back, barely stopping himself from tumbling onto his buttocks.
"Wait, you dumbass." She sighed. "I'm just worried about you."
Jeongguk furrowed his brows, as he massaged his neck, certain a bruise was going to form there from the forceful pull of the sweater. Worried?
"Why?"
"It's just–" she started. "You're very distant when he's around."
"No I'm not." Jeongguk whisper-yelled, and as if on cue, Taehyung stepped down the hallway in a relaxed manner, talking to two of his classmates. Jeongguk's entire body froze, and he instantly focused on the other boy, as he watched the older in a totally obviously secret manner.
Only to be pulled out of the gaze by a hard jab to the soft skin on the side of his stomach.
"Shit," he muttered as he doubled over in a mix of pain and suppressed laughter. As soon as he could stand up again, Taehyung was gone.
"See?" Kiana said before Jeongguk could cuss her out further. "As soon as he steps into a room, you instantly lose it."
"That's not true–"
"Jeongguk. You and I both know that it is." Jeongguk shut up. "And it's not that it's any of my business, I mean, if you're utterly and completely head over heels for him, you have the right to be."
Jeongguk's face instantly reddened, and he started coughing. However, the two continued into the canteen hall.
"I'm not."
"Oh my god, I was joking at first, but you, Jeongguk Jeon, have you perhaps taken a liking to him as a bit more than friends?" She whispered. Jeongguk's face flushed even more, and he was sure his head was going to pop right off his neck. Kiana gasped as she grabbed a food tray for herself and Jeongguk.
"You do~" She sang.
"Kiana, It's not like that, I mean I'm a boy, and he's–"
"Guk. You know I give less than two shitting doves about stuff like that. You go like whoever you like, I'm just a bit too protective of you. You're like a little brother for me.
"You're only two months older."
"Still. Just be careful around him. I mean, I'll gladly punch him if he breaks your heart once more." She said, handing Jeongguk her tray, as she put her arms into a boxing position, fake-punching the air once as they approached the table.
"Thank you, I'll be careful. Let's talk about this later."
"Talk about what later?" Aaron, one of the people from Jeongguk's friend group, asked. Jeongguk waved him off, and Aaron faked a pouty expression before laughing and returning to his initial conversation.
"Let's."

After lunch Kiana and Jeongguk headed off into two different directions, and Jeongguk walked alongside some of his new friends. Shortly after attending the school, Jeongguk had been dragged into the popular inner circle of the students. It was after he joined the Philosophy club and started talking a lot to one of the supposedly 'popular' sophomores.
The sophomore knew Taehyung, as he was also part of the popular circle, the part of the sophomores. So although Jeongguk and Taehyung were both part of the popular circle, they never really spoke, since it was divided into grades.
As Jeongguk went down the hallway and soon parted ways with the other freshmen to get to his locker, he noticed many of the students standing with the same piece of blue paper in their hands. His heart instantly leaped into his throat.
He hurried to his locker to get his books, before he would go ask one of the students about it. As he opened the locker, he noticed the same piece of paper laying in there. Oh no, he thought.
As he picked up the paper, he quickly noticed it wasn't a photo like he initially thought. It was rather an invitation. He huffed as he read it a second time. It was an invitation to a party.
Freshman - sophomore party! Read the title. You've got to be kidding me, Jeongguk thought.
After finishing a successful project between the two grades, we've decided to end it with a joint celebration on the 17th of October. This friday. Dress semi-formally, and bring your best spirit. The school provides the music and soda.
Jeongguk skimmed the rest of the invitation, catching smoking and drinking on the 'not allowed' part of the invitation. Seems fair, he thought to himself, before folding and stuffing the invitation into his pocket.
He then grabbed his mobile to text Kiana about it. Considering how she hurried to her next class, she probably didn't see the invitation. As he sent the message, he entered his second-to-last class of the day.
It was physics, and he knew he had to focus because of his low grades in the subject, but he couldn't help thinking about whether or not Taehyung would be at the party.
