Friday came sooner than expected.
But these days, everything comes sooner than expected, Jeongguk thought. It was the afternoon, and Jeongguk was sat in the middle of a puddle of his own clothes. Shirts were thrown onto his bed, and every single pair of jeans were scattered across the floor. A single sock was even hanging from his lamp. Yet he couldn't find what to wear.
"Just– I don't know, wear something casual?"
"I don't think I have anything casual."
"You're telling me you go to school naked?" Jeongguk rolled his eyes, and stood up, one shirt in each of his hands.
"Very funny, Yugyeom." He snarled at the phone, Yugyeom's laughing voice ringing through the speakers. "I have a lot of casual clothes. I just don't have an I'm-calling-this-casual-but-in-reality-it-has-been-planned-from-scratch outfit."
"I'm sure you have something. Can't you just go with jeans and a t-shirt?"
"I only have white t-shirts." Yugyeom sighed over the phone.
"Jesus boy, I'll have to personally travel from New York, all the way to Missoula, to drag you into a clothing store and buy you something new. You only ever wear those white tee's. 'S been like that for ages."
"Well, I don't know what else to wear." He looked around the room. "I mean, I have the Timberlands Scott gave me as a present but I'm, meh.."
Jeongguk's mother had recently started dating a guy named Scott, and she seemed happier than she had in a while. Not only did she seem happier, but she also seemed less exhausted. It wasn't that Jeongguk knew he was a bad man, or that he felt something was off about him, he just felt like Scott was trying a bit too hard, and that he was trying to become his new stepfather already. It made Jeongguk uncomfortable.
"They look nice I guess."
"Then wear them. It's only for a night, you know. You said you wanted casual, but cool casual, so how 'bout a white tee, jeans and the timberlands?" Jeongguk thought about it for a second, before giving a nod of approval, that Yugyeom couldn't see for obvious reasons.
"Okay."

It was getting languidly darker as Jeongguk walked down the sidewalk. It was around 6PM, and the cool fall breeze wrapped around Jeongguk like a chilly blanket as he walked. To shelter himself from the wind, he wrapped his hands around his arms, and tried to make himself seem smaller. Although it was getting darker, the sun still peaked out from the horizon. The sky was a mix of warm colors, that seemed to warm him up in the chilly weather, just by looking at it.
As he continued to walk, he soon arrived at the hall the party was being held at. The heavy bass from the music boomed through him as he walked up to the hall, and he could already see a few people standing outside with soda in their hands, talking. He instantly recognized the monument in front of the building from his school emblem.
He walked up to the building, and entered where he saw two girls exiting. That should be the way. He entered the building, and was about to get an overview of the hall, but before he managed to do that, two arms embraced him in a tight hug.
"You're here! We've missed you." Kiana's voice rung out. "Welcome to this year's Freshmen-Sophomore party! We hope you enjoy." She said in a deeper, monotone voice, trying to copy the speech the teachers' had given at the entrance.
