The Mayors Secret
Jayce Slade"Stay down!" I shouted waving my hand to signal everyone to stay put and stay down.
I crouched behind the truck that we arrived in. Ryder and Kiera by my side.
"What do we do?" Ryder asked flipping a switch on his pistol and allowing it to grow and become some kind of automatic machine gun.
He looked out over the right side of the truck, and started firing at the enemy.
"The Mayor must've expected us!" Kiera shouted in frustration.
"Do we fall back?" I asked, trying to yell over the gunfire from the Mayor's soldiers.
"MORTAR!" I heard South yell from further down the road as I saw a truck explode and get flipped off the road.
"We can't stay here!" Alpha shouted to us from one truck down. Beta and Finn were both armed and firing back at the Mayor's forces.
Kiera looked around in panic, I could tell she wasn't thinking straight, she must've prepared for this right?
"Kiera!" I yelled grabbing her by her shoulders. "What do we do!" I yelled.
"I-I, d-don't know" She mumbled but nobody else seemed to hear her except for me. I nodded gravely.
I turned to face Finn and struggled to yell over the gunfire.
"Finn!" I shouted to Finn who was only one truck down, probably no further then four or five meters away from me, yet he seemed to struggle to hear me.
"Yeah?" He shouted back.
"Get the trucks ready for transport! We hold this line for as long as possible!" I shouted.
Finn nodded and pulled out a walkie-talkie, he began barking orders to his men.
"Ryder!" I shouted lightly slapping Ryder on his arm.
"Yeah!" He responded.
"We need to see if there are any survivors of that exploded truck!" I shouted loading my AK-47 and pointing towards the flipped and flaming truck.
Ryder nodded then looked over to Alpha and Beta.
"Cover us!" He shouted to them.
Alpha and Beta, along with Finn started unloading at the Mayors soldiers. Ryder and I began to sprint towards the burning and flipped truck.
We reached it only to find three bodies, two were blown to pieces, and the third was on their back, coughing up blood and holding his chest, which currently had a hole in it and was bleeding uncontrollably, the person nearly dead was North.
East was by his brothers side, throwing bandages at the wound, while South was nearby unloading at the Mayors soldiers in pure rage.
"What happened?" I yelled bending down and helping East to stop the bleeding.
"After the first mortar, N-North came to check on us. H-he wanted to keep us safe, but the second one came down a-and blew up the truck" East spoke wiping away tears from his face.
"Hey" I spoke grabbing East's shoulder, East looked away from his bleeding brother and to me. His eyes had streams of tears coming from them, he was sweating through his shirt, he had cuts and bruises, he had blood covering his hands that likely belonged to his brother and he was shaking as if this was a ice age.
"Stay focused East, Your brother needs you" I spoke calmly to him. East nodded slowly processing what I was saying and then helped by pressing the bandages to Norths chest.
