The Hunters
Dante Hanson

I struggled once again to free myself from the ropes I was tied in. I realized that even if I ripped off the ropes tying my hands together it wouldn't matter, since I was still chaind by my ankle to the cave wall.

I gave up trying to get this idiots to free me, I've been trying to escape for nearly two months now and during that time I still haven't learned why they keep me alone in this cave all day.

I know that the main group of the clan comes and goes, often leaving me alone with only two or three guards, but today the clan returned and I heard fire and dancing from outside the cave.

I often sat in this cave, alone, waiting for my next meal. I think about the last few months, and everything that has happened to me since the world went to hell.

The death of my wife, watching my daughter turn into one of those things, the slaughter of my best friend. Then betrayal from someone I thought I could trust.

If I was alive again, I knew it was likely someone else from Ryder's slaughter was here too, and one day I'd escape from here, find those people and work together to somehow, someway get revenge on Ryder for all the shit he put us through.

Suddenly I heard a loud drum start banging, that drum meant that someone was challenging the current leader.

Colter was the current leader of the hunters, a mid forties, buff, clever type. He was the only reason the other hunters haven't killed me yet, So I hope he wins.

Serveral minutes of screaming of the crowd and wines of angoy from the fighters passed until the drum stopped banging and everything went slient.

I heard echoing footsteps of someone walking down the cave, someone with a limp, they sounded like they were using a metal cane of some kind since one of there footsteps made a "cling" instead of a "thump".

But it wasn't a man with a cane at all. The older man walked towards me, and looked down at me with a smile across his face.

He had a limp, but it was from his leg that was replaced with plated titanium. The man's face was half covered in the same plating and his one eye glowed red as he looked at me.

"Micheal Skeleton" I mumbled as I looked up at him in disbelief.

He was covered in blood, and held Colter's decapitated head in his hand, dangling it by his hair.

He threw the head at my feet.

"Hello Dante" he walked closer and bent down to look me face to face.

"I'm in charge now, and I have some mighty plans for you" Micheal smiled.

"You- your dead" I mumbled to him.

"We all died to get here boy, just some of us got a second chance, I'm lucky enough to stand here in front of you" Micheal Skeleton spoke standing back up and limping away from me.

"Finally I can call myself Major again" Micheal spoke limping once again out of the cave.

Micheal Skeleton, ex leader of Fort Black, Murder, psychopath, father of Maya, and finally one of the men I killed.

I knocked on Kieras door to her small bedroom sized house and entered. She was still in bed, she jumped and came to her feet when I entered, then, realizing it was me laid back down and got comfortable once again. Her room was almost exactly the same as mine, minus the location, hers was closer to the water, mine was further inland, near the front gate.

"Sorry" I spoke carrying in two mugs full of coffee and placing one on her end table next to her bed.

"No problem, I just jump easily when I sleep, got in that habit at the Church" Kiera spoke sitting up and taking the coffee in her hands, she took a long sip then looked up at me in amazment.
