Chapter Ninety Six

The Battle For Fallen Pt.2

We crept through the woods as quietly as we could.

Ex led us through the forest towards the convoy, I heard the gunfire and explosions from the City already; which means we were behind schedule.

Jeff stayed close behind me, along with Jorge and half of his pirate crew, the other half led by Carter was up in the ship fighting alongside Ace and the air team.

Shadow was nearby as well, huddled in between Ex and I. Wearing his full on armour again and more or less fully healed.

Shadow made it out of the zombie herd without a bite or scratch. Thanks to the armour my boy is alive. 

Ex stopped us and raised a finger to his lips as he bent down. 

I crept up next to him and saw the convoy in the clearing beyond the treeline.

The group of trucks, vans and motorcycles were parked along a dirt road in front of us. There are armed soldiers scattered all along the vehicles. Some were smoking long cigars, others were loading guns and one of them was being barked orders over the radio.

I saw Ex focus on the guards every move, clearly waiting for a moment to strike.

"This is Cassi, we found the Convoy, moving in to destroy" I spoke into the radio.

I took a step towards the convoy and felt every lesson that Finn taught me flow through me.

Everytime I struggled I had to defeat his other apprentices, every time he would push me and taunt me.

I remember one time in particular, it was a simple task, reach the top of the flag pole and retrieve the flag. But every time I failed, he tested this on me over and over, day after day.

After a while he knew I needed encouragement, so everytime I failed I would lose my dinner ration. But that didn't work

Then he took away my bed, and replaced it with a bundle of straw and a pillow, that didn't work.

Finally one day as I was struggling to climb up the pole he said this.

"What would your family think! What would Patrick do if he saw you right now? What about Jayce and Ryder? Or Dante?" 

The drive to not fail those I loved managed to get me to learn what I was truly capable of. After a while he managed to help me control that power, and use those feelings to turn me into a powerful weapon.

Just as I was about to emerge from  the bushes and trees I heard the click of a gun, followed by a grunt "Help" I heard Jeff whisper.

Ex and I turned around to see half of the pirates dead on the ground from being impaled by a knife, and a few had broken necks.

Jeff had a double barrel shotgun to the back of his head.

Holding the shotgun was Dante, who must've sneaked up behind us and single handed took down half of our team without any of us, even Ex hearing him.

"I told you, Your next bitch" Dante harshly said, looking directly at me with blood lust in his eyes.

Ace Baillieu

I cheered when I saw the wall explode, but I felt my face go white when I saw a herd of zombies pour out from it.

I turned my fighter back in the direction of the ground force, to hopefully lay down some cover fire, but the moment I did a missile whizzed by my bird.

I banked left, to see what just shot at me.

It was a huge group of fighters, that weren't ours.

"Shit, Alright everyone heads up we got company up here" I spoke into the radio.

I saw Cleaver dive into one of the fighters and burn the pilot to the pieces, the enemy fighter exploded and the debris fell onto the City below.

The City was a mad house, the zombies that Max teleported in were keeping the soldiers busy away from the main ground force, which was the idea.

People were running around frantically, and while we didn't want any innocent people to be put in danger, we had no other choice. Granted our soldiers are ordered not to kill civilians if we can help it.

Jayce and Kiera made it perfectly clear however that there weren't many "civilians" anymore. You either fought, or were one of the lucky ones to have already died.

"Shane, you ready for this?" I asked over my ear piece.

"You know it buddy" Shane confirmed

"Well alright!" I shouted laughing. I pressed a button and my speaker started up, playing "Highway to the Danger zone"

I looked to my right, and saw a gray and red fighter with the name spray painted on the side. "Shane" I assumed that it was Shane's fighter.

I barrel rolled as we approached the fighters, allowing my plasma targeting system to do the work. As we passed the the enemy planes I watched as many large balls of fire fell to the city below that were once operating enemy fighter planes.

I banked back around left, to face the enemy once more.

"HIGHWAY TO THE DANGER ZONE!" I sung along as I opened fire, unloading my missiles on the enemy. Many of them blew to pieces.

"HELL YEAH!" I shouted.

I noticed Carter and the Pirate ship pull up behind me, they were a little too close to me.

Were they planning to ram me?

"Yo Pirates, back off a little would ya?"

No response, I figured I should get out of there way, no way in hell was I dying to these team changing back stabbers

I nose dived slightly and killed my engines, letting the Pirates pass over me.

I stabilized and watched as the Pirates rotated 90° to the right and unload their cannons on a enemy bird.

"Sorry about that Ace, there was a enemy bird tailing ya" Carter spoke over the radio. I saw the Pirates carry on.

I activated my engine again and blasted back over to the Mansion. Covering Cleaver and Cyblow as I saw them attacking a couple of fighters.

Cleaver had one foot in the engine of a plane, keeping it from flying away. The pilot ejected from his seat but was quickly caught in the teeth of Cleaver and swallowed whole.

Cyblow was ontop of another fighter caught in Cleavers back foot.

"Get off my lady!" Cyblow shouted with a laugh over the radio. Shooting the head off of the pilot.

Cyblow jumped back onto Cleavers back and the two flew back into the air, the two fighters that they just disabled fell to the City and exploded.

I flew over next to Cleaver and Cyblow and Cyblow gave me a middle finger with a big grin planted across is face and his tongue out like a dog sticking his head out of a car window.

"DRAGON RIDER!" Cyblow shouted as Cleaver dived down to the Mansion.

The moment Cyblow hit the Mansion however, one section of open green field in front of the mansion collapsed and a huge beast came out.

"HOLY SHIT! I heard Cyblow shout as Cleaver flew back up to the skies.

Out from the field flew a four headed, dark green skinned Hydrea.
