The Mayor's Vault
Micheal Skeleton

As I marched up the steps towards Josh's quarters with Elliot and Karma by my side, I wondered of what was really going on in my daughters head.

Was she truly on my side?

I knew she never cared for me, so why side with me now? Against her sister, something must've happened.

"So Michelle, or sorry. I know you prefer Karma nowadays, tell me, what made you want to come see me?" I asked.

Karma quickly responded, as if she expected the question.

"Well father, you and I never saw eye to eye on things. But frankly I don't trust these people to lead this world, while I don't fully agree with everything you do, I at least know I'm in good hands with you in charge" Karma answered.

I stopped, and Karma stopped with me.

"You think I'm going to lead us after this is over?" I asked.

She nodded. "Why wouldn't you?"

"Because I'm not selfish Karma, I believe in democracy, I know it doesn't seem like it now due to our current condition. But I don't think the burden of decision making should rest on one person's shoulders. Especially not one of a child" I started continuing to walk down the hall.

"So tell me more of these people, you were with them up until the Outpost attacks, what changed your mind?" I asked. I wanted to poke at her, see if there were holes in her story, if they're then she is lying to me for sure.

"I'd rather not talk about it" She answered politely, giving Elliot a glance who acted as a guard behind us.

"Elliot won't tell anyone dear, please. What made you change your mind, in the past you hated me, what made you come back to your family?" I asked.

"Well, remember the boy that I went to see when it all started. His name was Ace, and he's here in this world too. He's with another woman, claimed to have moved on" Karma explained.

I nodded and understood. So she wanted them all dead? Unlikely, but it was good enough for now.

I walked to the door, knocked and opened the door wide.

I found Josh, pointing the barrel of a gun to a woman, the woman was none other then my other daughter Maya.

"I found her sneaking through the hallways sir, I caught her by surprise" Josh spoke.

"Put your gun away Josh!" I ordered walking over to Maya, bending down on one knee to get closer to her face. She didn't make eye contact with me, she starred intensely at the ground.

"Are you alone?" I asked.

She nodded, she seemed scared. But I knew she was faking it.

I looked back to Karma.

"Did you know about this?" I demanded.

Karma shook her head, she actually looked in shock. There was no way she expected Maya to be here. I began to realize that everything Karma told me was true. While I know Maya was here to kill me, I believe that Karma was actually here to help me.

"Elliot, tie Maya up and bring her with us. Send a team out to look for others" I ordered Elliot, he grabbed his radio and barked orders to a squad. Afterward he grabbed a pair of handcuffs and placed them on Maya's wrists, putting her arms behind her back.

"Josh, come with me. I need you to show me the Vault"

...

Josh stuck the key in the keyhole outside the elevator of the Vault, I decided to show both of my daughters this vault. It was truly a work of art.
