I'm Sorry
Kiera ReedI walked over the ruins of Sandlock, searching for what I thought is the remains of the Warroom. Digging and clawing my way through the rubble I manage to find the only thing from the Warroom that wasn't destroyed.
The radio.
I grabbed the microphone and took it from the handle, then turned the radio on. The actual metal radio is cracked, and bent due to all of the sandstone and brick rubble covering it overnight.
Alpha and Charles are preparing the only remained boat for transport to the Dojo. We couldn't stay here, besides we need to find whatever is left of our people.
I turned the radio to the signal that I used to contact Finn.
"This is Sandlock, does anyone read me?" I spoke into the microphone while holding down a button on the microphones side.
I let go of the button and let a few moments pass, there was no answer.
"This is Kiera Reed, requesting contact to the Dojo. Does anyone hear me?" I spoke again.
"Yes! This is Dojo, we read you. Stay right there Kiera, I'll get Master Finn" Someone spoke over the radio. I was assuming it was one of Finn's men, who's job was likely to just watch the radio.
About thirty seconds passed before I got another answer.
"This is Master Finn from the Dojo, Kiera are you still there?" I heard Master Finn's voice speak.
"Yes! Are my people there?" I asked
A moment or two passed. I was hoping it was because he was taking time on if it was safe to respond, and not that he didn't know what I was talking about.
"Yes, they arrived last night. They are safe" Finn responded.
I exhaled in relief.
"I'll be there soon" I responded. "See you then" I spoke turning the radio off and placing the radio down.
I sat back down on the rubble and just looked around again at the destruction.
It wasn't just the village and it's walls, but even the farmers fields bordering the lake were burnt down. The cattle field was broken open dozens of Cows were dead on the ground.
It wasn't just a attack, it was a slaughter.
Mayor Talon didn't just get the information about us joining the rebellion, he had information on when to attack, and how to cripple us the quickest. It would also make sense for the attack we attempted to free Ex. Charles told them everything.
And I was bringing the traitorous mole back to the Dojo?
I stood up and walked towards the docks, seeing Alpha and Charles on the docks. Alpha was throwing the supplies that we found onto the boat and was tightening the robes on the small sailboat. While Charles just sat on a bench on the docks, head in his hands, elbows on his knees.
"K-Kiera?" Some mumbled nearby.
I turned and looked down at the rubble of a hut, and saw only a arm and a head sticking out of it. The body was covered in dust, and pieces of rock but the face was still recognizable.
"North?" I spoke in shock. I got down on my knees and instantly started moving the largest boulder off of his chest. In all of the panic, they must've ran out of time to take him. I can only imagine South and East's worry, if that is, they made it out.
North screamed in agony when I tried to move the boulder. It must've crushed him, it was acting as a cork for his blood, if I moved it he'd bleed out.
