The Mole
Max Withered"Well this sucks" I spoke kicking one of the pebbles at my feet. Karma and I made it to the Dojo safely, they told us everything we asked.
They lost a few people too same as us, they also had wounded, same as us. They had no knowledge on where Jayce and Ryder went, nor did they hear anything back from Cassi and her team.
It was likely they were all dead.
Our truck broke down a few miles back, we were maybe another forty minute walk away from Sandlocks gate, we figured it would be quicker just to leave the truck that we drove to the Dojo and just walk the rest of the way, then have someone come out here and get it in the morning.
It wasn't night, it was late afternoon and the clouds were beginning to form what could be a dangerous storm.
"So, about what happened in the bunker" Karma started, clearly referencing to when she tried to kiss me.
"Don't bother" I answered. "You don't need to explain yourself, it's fine"
Karma exhaled loudly. "Alright, I just don't want you to get any ideas is all" She spoke.
I chuckled softly. "Right" knowing she was probably still in love with Ace. I honestly forgot about her connection with Ace until now.
"And Tyson" Karma spoke changing the topic. "What are we doing with him?"
"For now, just keep him safe" I spoke. "We need to get this war thing over with, after that we train him, and when he's older, and ready, that's when we take the fight to the Creator" I spoke, wishing Tyson was ready now.
"Alright, but train him how?" Karma asked.
"Truthfully I don't know, if he has Portal Jumper abilities then he'd have to be trained by another Portal Jumper. Outside of just training though he'd need a parent figure, someone to watch out for him. Who'd that'd be I'm still no sure-"
"NOW!" I heard someone shout to our left. Suddenly over a dozen people rose from the sand wearing fully desert camouflage suits and holding weapons. Some had blunts, spears, and I even noticed a few rifles.
Karma pulled her shotgun from her bag and aimed it at the nearest man to her. The group of people completely surrounded us.
"What do you want?" I shouted.
"That bounty on your head!" One of the men shouted back. They weren't keeping any kind of formation, other then just standing around us, and other then the camouflage, the clothes that I could barely see underneath looked rugged, as did all of there faces.
These were Clanless people.
"Do you think the girl is worth something?" Someone whispered.
"Let's take her and find out!" Someone barked to the rest. They all seemed to nod in agreement. They were all hungry for blood.
"What bounty?" Karma demanded.
"The Mayor made a Wanted List, and your on it pretty boy" Another one of the Clanless attackers spoke.
They all seemed to have a raspy voice, they were coughing a lot too. This clan system is broken, nobody should be kicked out from a clan. If they are a criminal they should be locked up, but many of these people were likely just unable to do whatever job it was they were tasked.
"Lay down your weapons" I spoke calmly. "And you can all come with me to Sandlock, you can stay with us-"
"Bullshit!" One of the Clanless men shouted.
