I was about to walk into the ballroom when I saw Elira coming down a staircase crying.

     "Elira?" I chased after her.

"Leave me alone Tris," she quickly walked out of the castle

"I won't do that," I grab her arm, making her turn around to face me, "What's wrong?" I cup her face.

"Jivan knew," she cried harder.

"Knew what, Elira?" I wiped her tears.

"That I'm cursed," I stare at her thinking if I heard right.

"How did he –"

"Bring me home," she said and I nodded.

We took a carriage ride, back to her castle. I told a guard to inform the others and Elira's parents that Elira felt unwell and needed to go home. The whole trip back she only leaned her head on my shoulder and wrapped her hands around my arm. She would try to stop crying, but I could hear sniffles.

All I could think of is how and when Jivan knew about the curse. I had an idea why Elira was bothered, but for some reason, I think there was something else.

I walked by her as we reached her bedroom, she instantly lied on her bed and sobbed. I needed to know what was going through her head.

"Elira," I gently stroke her shoulder, "Do you want to be alone?" she shook her head, "Do you want to talk about it?" she shook her head again.

"I'll just sit here by your side then," she nodded.

I adjust myself to sit against her headboard as she was lying down, holding a pillow against her chest and her back facing me. She was trying so hard not to cry, but she would suddenly grip on the pillow harder and muffle her sobs into the pillow.

"I'm so hungry," I said and I look at Elira who didn't even budge, "I bet they were going to serve really good chicken," I sighed adding for the dramatic effect.

"You shouldn't have come with me then," she finally replies.

"And miss this sobbing-party? Never!" I said and I heard her giggle softly.

She turned around, "Thank you," she said looking up at me and I nodded.

"I'll always be here for you," I said moving down to face her.

"Why couldn't it be you?" she said and my heart sunk, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"

I pull her for a hug, "It's okay," she hugged me back, "I guess we were always meant to be best friends and that's okay."

"It's not Tris, you're the one I should marry, I -" Elira looked up into my eyes, "I'm sorry."

It wasn't the words I wanted to hear, but I'll take it. I smiled at her, "So you're still going to marry Jivan then?" I asked and she sighed.

"Can we not talk about him?" she snuggled into my chest.

"Alright," I wrap my arms around her tighter, "Do you want to change clothes?" she nodded her head.

"This ballgown is seriously annoying," we both sat up straight.

"I can tell," I said and she giggled, "I'll go and get changed too."

I left her bedroom and I was heading towards my bedroom when I saw Jivan coming up the staircase.

     "Tristan,"

"Jivan, what are you doing here?" I grab his arm pulling him down the staircase to the second floor.

"I need to talk to her," he said looking up the staircase.
