Here's a edit to make you cry before you read this oneshot:

And I recommend you listen to the song at the very top of this chapter while you read. Feel free to play it whenever you want:

Mike's heart felt numb. It hurt, it really did. He was still in disbelief. She was gone, El was gone. He was still unsure of how he felt. He had only known her for a short time, but she changed his view of everything. El understood him, she listened to his rants and stood quietly, understanding his pain and letting him know she knew.

El was always there for him, even after he had yelled at her that day. She was there, by his side. He trusted her and considered her a friend... Or possibly more. He still remembered the feelings he had when held El's hand and saw her soft brown eyes and her warm smile.

When he was with El, he felt as if he could do anything. She made him happier than he had ever felt with anyone, even the party. She played with his heart unintentionally. He cared about her more that he had cared about anyone.

But now, he wasn't strong. He should have saved her. Guilt hit him repeatedly, like angry waves during high tide at a beach.

Mike Wheeler sat on the basement floor, staring at the blanket fort that still stood on the corner of the room. He felt lost, like El was his light through darkness. But his light was gone, burnt out. Irreplaceable.

He preferred to be alone with only the supercom by his side. He called her, each and every night, hoping and praying that she was out there, somewhere. Mike had cried tears that could fill rivers and was tired of crying. He couldn't help it, that girl had changed him.

Mike crawled into the blanket fort and placed the supercom in his lap. For the first time since El disappeared, he smiled. He thought about the young girl with an Eggo obsession who had saved his life, not once but twice.

His smile faded as he remembered her scream. That night at the school when the demogorgon had appeared. She sacraficed to keep the party- no, Mike safe. After she was gone, he continously screamed her name into the night, hoping she was there. But El had vanished into thin air. She was gone.

"Hey El, its me, Mike again, it's day 45," His voice wavered as he spoke, "I hope you can hear me. And I hope you're okay and- I need to stop bullshitting..."

Mike closed his eyes and leaned back against the wall, letting his feelings and emotions spill, "El, I miss you. I need you to come home. Home, El. I promised you so many things and I can't let my promises fade. I will take you to the Snowball and I will get you a bed in the basement and Nancy will be like your sister and my parents will take care of you and... and..." Tears formed in his eyes and he whispered the next words, "I'll show you everything you want to see. I'll show you everything you missed and how you should have grown up, not as an experiment, but as a kid."

The tears spilled from his eyes as he stared at the supercom, debating about whether or not to say more words, "E-El, you're my home. You're the person I could come to and take weight off my shoulders. All these days and nights w-without you here, I can't bear it. I've been counting nights that you've been gone for. I miss you a lot El," Mike laid down on the floor, tears flowing down his cheeks, "I-I can almost imagine that you're here. It's crazy, I know. But I thought I h-heard your voice one night," His heart racked with pain and tears flowed down his cheeks, "I'm not going to give up on you. I promise you, and I never break my promises. Just p-please come home, El. Please."

He dropped the supercom into his lap and cried, mentally criticizing himself for crying again, "Stop stop," He mumbled between sobs, "No more tears. Stop it, Mike! Stop stop!" He rubbed his eyes and stared at the ceiling, "Y-you should have saved her. It's y-your fault. Its y-your fault she's gone.

It hurt. No pain could match heartache. He cried, again and again, nights after nights, praying to anyone that she was alive; that she was okay. He had feelings for her, he was just unaware. She had played with his heart and completely changed him. He cared about El. She was his light, but now his light was gone. He felt lost.

El knelt next to Mike in the blanket fort, her head on his shoulder, just like she had done in the school. He didnt know she was there but she had heard everything. El started to cry the pain in her heart was unbearable. She needed his warm arms around her. She needed to hear his soft, soothing voice telling her everything would be okay.

El wanted to tell him that she was okay, that she was alive. There were so many things she wanted to tell him. It wasn't his fault, it was hers. She needed to tell him, but she couldn't. An invisible barrier separated them both, and it was unbreakable.

El took his hand gently making a tingling sensation run through his fingertips. The warmth traveled up his arm as El ran her ran across his arm, "E-El?"

"Mike I'm here. Please I'm here!" El cried, but he couldnt hear her, "I'm safe. I'm okay! Its not your fault! I'm okay!"

He looked directly at her, but couldn't see her. Her heart cracked as he looked down at his lap, the strange warmth moved to his jaw as El rested her hand across his jaw. Mike pressed his hand against his cheek, where the warmth was.

He locked eyes with her and sighed before pulling away and leaving the blanket fort. El chased after him as he walked up the stairs. She wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, making him freeze. Unsure of what he felt was real or not, he imagined El was there, hugging him. He wrapped his arms around her waist gently and closed his eyes, imagining the missing girl was standing before him, with her arms around him.

"I'm coming home, Mike," El whispered and kissed his cheek gently, "I will be home soon."

The warmth faded as El pulled off the blindfold, tears in her eyes. Mike pressed his fingers against his cheek where El had kissed him. He felt her presence, but if it was real or in his head. Maybe it was her... but he didn't know if it was his imagination.

He sat on the stairs and shut his eyes. Tears formed in his eyes and he buried his head in his hand, "E-El, please come home soon. I'm so lost without you."

Tears spilled from his eyes as he looked at the blanket fort from across the room, "El, I'm so sorry. I should've saved you."

Well that was sad. My heart is in shattered pieces right now...
