Listen to Ed sheeran's I'm a mess because I think it goes very well with this chapter. It's very heartfelt and full of lament.

Kim's Point of View

I quietly tapped my fingers on the black wooden table as I waited for my order to arrive. It smelled of coffee all around me mixed in with the sound of unsteady breathing and clicking.

- here you go miss - the waitress with a puffy skirt said while placing my tea gently on the table alongside a napkin.

She had brown hair which was tied up in a bun with a white bow. Her eyes were a dark shade of blue. For some reason they reminded me of Dane even though they looked nothing like his.

- miss? - the waitress said. I looked at her with a blank expression not knowing what was going on.

- sugar? Extra napkin? - she said looking a bit frustrated.

- oh.. No thank you - I said quietly.

I watched her walk away as I carefully picked up my hot mug. After a couple of minutes of starring at the wall my mind started replaying everything that had happened today.

Mistakes.

Everything that had happened since I met Dane was a mistake. The only good thing that has happened to me is graduating from Brown.

I sighed profoundly as I took out my phone to check on the time. It was barely 12:00 a.m. and my taxi wouldn't be here for another hour. I should have driven myself to that lousy party.

I was so wrapped up in my thoughts that I didn't notice someone had sat right in front of me. I was about to ask them kindly  if they could move to another table when I saw who it was.

- congratulations, you're officially all grown up - he said with his usual smirk.

- thanks - I said really softly.

I quickly composed myself and continued to read the article about pollution in my phone with an embarrassed look on my face.

- I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to say hi to you today at the graduation. Things got pretty crazy..... you looked beautiful - he said with a shaky voice.

- it's okay - I replied back coldly while still looking down at my phone.

- Kim - he said while taking my hand and wrapping it with his own - please look at me -

I really wanted to look up and get lost in his heavenly eyes but I knew that if I did.... I would fall for him all over again. Thankfully my taxi called and said that it was outside.

I took one last sip of my hardly touched tea and got up not even acknowledging Dane. I cleared my throat loud enough to catch his attention and said - it was nice seeing you Dane. Good night -

- wait! - he said while getting up too - I'll give you a ride home just please.. stay -

- I'm not Kendall Jenner - I said as I exited the coffee shop.

With a heavy heart I got into the taxi and left Dane behind were he rightfully belonged.
