Kim's Point Of View
- any news - I asked Jared in a breathless tone due to the fact I was overwhelmed by the disgusting hospital smell. It smelled like death and alcohol. He nodded in disapproval so I sat next to him mentally preparing myself for the countless hours of agony yet to come.
- why are you still - I asked him in the nicest way possible.
- mostly because of you. You seem like a nice girl and since it's partly my fault Dane's in here, I couldn't bear to leave you in this position by yourself. You should go home and rest because you look like a walking zombie - he slightly laughed while saying the last part.
- that makes two of us - I murmured as I leaned on his shoulder. Just then a doctor with light brown hair and grey eyes walked into the waiting room and eyed everyone before walking toward us.
- Kim Knight - he asked. I nodded and stood up with Jared by my side.
- is he out of surgery? Is he okay? Is he awake? - I bombarded him with questions which made him look at me with pitying eyes.
- I'm sorry miss Knight. The only information I can give you is the that his situation doesn't look good. It looks like he overdosed on multiple drugs and though we pumped his stomach as soon as he got here the fact that he was in a laying position for a while before anyone found him made his body unresponsive and weak. We're about to perform another surgery on him in a couple of minutes but we recommend you start saying goodbye. Very sorry for your loss - he then walked out. But, I didn't want to say goodbye. Not like this.
- Jared - I said in a monotone voice while still looking at the door.
- I'm sorry hun, come here - he tried to hug me. I pushed him away and sat back down.
- I don't want your pity but I do need your help - I said.
- anything, what do you need -
- I need to contact Dane's dad. He should know his son is dying - I said with a heavy heart. He needed to know even if they never got along.
- I know a guy that can help us with that. Come on - I didn't hesitate in following. - do you have your car with you - he asked. I nodded and practically ran toward it while holding onto his wrist so he wouldn't get left behind. We arrived at my car in what seemed like five hours but in reality was merely five minutes.
- where to - I asked as I turned my keys and the engine came to life. He gave me directions as we went and got there in a nerve striking thirty minutes. The sky was pitch black and little drops of rain fell every once in a while making my vision even more disoriented than it already was.
- okay turn to your left onto that neighborhood and keep going straight until you see a row of white houses. Stop on the third one - he instructed while I eyed everything suspiciously. I knew this neighborhood but everything that happened in the past 24 hours was a blur. I parked my car on the curb and followed Jared up the pathway toward the oddly familiar house.
- why are we here - I asked. - most importantly, what time is it? -
- my friends girlfriend works for Dane's dad but I never told Dane because he despises him and it's 1:30 a.m. sugar cakes -
- they were never really close from what he told me - I added slightly skirming at his nickname for me. Jared rung the doorbell and out came a drowsy looking Andrew.
- Jared, what a lovely surprise. Come in - he starred at me the whole time while we walked to the kitchen.
- moving? - Jared asked.
