Kim's Point Of View

The dress I was wearing was a sleeveless sequin white silk dress that was tight around my waist and adorned with lace. City hall was surprisingly empty so that made me and two other couples the only ones seated in a long hallway plastered with three big windows that allowed endless sunlight to cascade all over the place. I looked over my shoulder and admired the couple to my left. The women looked around my age and was dressed in a beautiful wedding gown that made her skin glow. She had dark black hair which contrasted very well with her pale skin tone. The man on the other hand had bright blonde hair and a tanned skin tone that adorned his crisp black suite perfectly. I saw the way he smiled at her and it wasn't just one word but a whole vocabulary. They were out of my sight forever as they got called in to get married and I bet they lived happily ever after.

- she looked beautiful didn't she - a young girl with black curly hair and dark skin tone told me.

- right out of a fairly tale. You look equally as beautiful too - I sincerely said because her light baby blue dress was a jewel in my eyes.

- you think? It was a last minute dress so I didn't expect to get much compliments or nonetheless look beautiful - she blushed.

- well you must be an excellent shopper because darling you look absolutely radiant. Where's the lucky guy? -

- went to the bathroom to take a quick call. There he is - she excitedly said as she practically jumped out of her seat and ran toward him. They hugged and kissed as they did a mini waltz in the middle of the room.

"Georgina Stephenson and Christopher Milano" a women stepped out of the room and looked down at her board.

- smile that beautiful smile of yours - I whispered to her as she walked by me and soon disappeared into the room where she would start her happy ever after.

I was the last person in the white hallway and everything would have been perfect if there was an important person here by my side.

Minutes went by but they felt more like hours and there was still no sign of Dane. No calls, text messages, voicemail, nothing... except his other half. His life, his love.

"Kim Knight and Dane DeHaan" the same lady called out.

- would you mind if I waited a couple of minutes, my fiancee is stuck in traffic - I lied.

- you guys have until 7:30 and then you're going to have to reschedule - she lifelessly said. I didn't waste a second and began calling Dane like crazy.

- please pick up - I whispered into my phone. - please, let me hear your voice - My futile attempts in trying to contact him failed and not only was I scared and sad but heartbroken as well.

7:20 p.m. and no sign of Dane. I closed my eyes for a second and looked at the clock again 7:25 p.m. it read. My eyes slightly dampened as I stared at my palms trying to distract myself.

7:29 p.m. and my heart was on my sleeve. It jumped erratically as I heard the door knob begin to open. I quickly blinked away my tears and ran to open the door for him but out came a janitor with a cleaning bucket.

- thank you - he said as he began cleaning the floors.

"You're going to have to reschedule miss because the ceremony office is now closed" she said.

I put on a fake smile and walked out of the wedding hall leaving the cleaning man to sweep up the pieces of my broken heart. My heels made little noise as I walked through the multiple winding hallways and out the exit. People stared at me as I slowly made my way down the stairs and onto the crowded sidewalk. I hailed a cab and in 40 minutes was at the entrance of my hotel.

- here you go, thank you - I paid the driver.

- have a nice day and miss... you look flawless -

I told him "thank you" again and entered the lobby where I walked to the front desk.

- excuse me, you haven't happened to see my fiancee Dane DeHaan? - I asked.

- yes miss Knight. He checked back in about 40 minutes ago - she replied with a small smile. - his friend Jared Leto came in with him as well -

I nodded and furiously stomped up the stairs since I had no time for elevator waiting. Tears dampened my eyes partly from anger but mainly from him ditching me on this special day.

I slid my card harshly over the door knob and was greeted by darkness.

- Dane! Dane!... Where are you. I know you're in here - I yelled as I tripped over some unknown object on the ground. I quickly turned on the light and realized I had tripped over Jared.

- turn off the light - he mumbled while still laying on the ground. I bent down on my knees and grabbed him by the shoulders.

- where is he - I said in a serious tone.

- bedroom - he quietly said and just as I was about to open the door Jared hardly shut it again.

- don't go in there - he said in a low voice.

- you can't tell me what to do and not do - I pushed him out of the way and stormed into the bedroom.

- wake up Dane - I said. He didn't respond. -  I'm not kidding around, get your ass up - I said in an angrier tone than before. I touched his foot but no response.

- stop it Dane. You have no right to ignore me right now after you left me at city hall. You promised you loved me - my voice broke. Still no response. - Dane! - I yelled as I yanked the covers off of his body. I walked over to his side and my heart stopped when I touched his hand. It was ice cold and pale looking. - Dane - I said in a softer tone. Still no response so I touched him again and shrieked when I saw his face. His eyes were open and he had some blood running down his nose with white powder.

- Jared - I yelled. - Jared! Help me - I frantically yelled. He immediately came running to my side and screamed for me to call an ambulance. I called and they told me they would be there momentarily.

I knelt beside his lifeless body and held his stiff cold hand hoping for the best yet knowing the worst had happened. - please don't leave me - I sobbed into his palm crying with all my might.

- it's just you and me -
