This is the first half of a two parter. It's okay if it suddenly ends because the next half will be posted tomorrow.

Many years later

Kim's Point of View

With every push, she went higher and higher until all of my energy ran out.

- again - Lilly my 7 year old neighbor said.

- no honey, it's getting late. Come on, let's take you home before your mother starts to worry - I told her while extending my hand out so she could hold it.

Maybe one day I would be lucky enough to find a nice trustworthy guy and have a big family.

While I was putting Lilly's seatbelt on she asked me if we could stop by the candy store on the way home. Me, being the horribly nice person I am quickly gave in and told her yes.

- mom, I'm home - I yelled while taking off my coat.

My mother was out as usual so I decided to play the piano for a while. Whenever I played the piano or sang I always made sure no one was home.

I sat down on the black leather seat and all of the unwanted memories came flooding back. I pushed them away and took out my journal which was hidden under the seat. I warmed up by playing both the a flat and c scales.

As soon as my fingers came in contact with the piano's delicate keys, everything came naturally.

"can you keep a secret

Will you hold your hand among the flames

Honey your a shipwreck

With your heart of stone

Can I get a witness"

I stopped singing when I heard someone clear their throat behind me.

- hi Stacy - I said nervously. I hadn't seen her in about 6 years. After I graduated high school, I didn't hesitate in leaving the comfort of my house because I knew that if I didn't leave then, I would probably never leave.

- did you write that? - she asked me with a big smile while walking towards me.

- yeah. It's not finished though and I know it's horrible - I said quietly

- musicians are always so skeptical and weird - she said with a smirk - where have you been, I've missed you -

With that one friendly insult I realized that California had not changed but I had.

- I'm attending Brown. In fact, I'm graduating in a few weeks. I'm also a certified yoga instructor - I said while standing up and putting my journal on the book shelf.

- Brown, joga instructor.... I always knew you were destined for greatness -

I laughed and hugged her.

Stacy ended up telling me what had changed since I left and what she was up to nowadays.

- sweetie I'm home - I heard my mom call from the front door.

- hi mom.... Whoa what's all this - I said while picking up a couple of bags and taking them to the kitchen.

- it's for your party tonight since my baby is leaving home once again -

- I don't need a party mommy. We can just watch a whole season of Friends, order some take out and that right there is an awesome party -

- you know throwing parties brings me happiness. Do you really want to make me upset -

I knew that she wouldn't be deeply wounded if I said no to her party but I also didn't want my mom to think I was ungrateful. After a few seconds of thinking, I finally gave in and said yes. I didn't even want to think what she was going to do when I graduated college.

Not the best chapter but at least we are getting somewhere. Sorry for not updating yesterday. I had to go to my Academic Decathlon award ceremony. It was okay I guess. Fine, it was boring as hell. I also DIDN'T write the song our lonely Kim was singing.
