Dane's Point of View

The sun was out but yet it was still cold as hell which made me irritated because the winters here in california should be decent, not cold enough for me to be able to see my own breath whenever I exhale.

- don't you just love the weather - Kim asked as she stepped out onto the balcony as well. I couldn't tell if she was being serious or sarcastic.

- is that a rhetorical question? - I asked her as I looked straight ahead trying to see through the light fog that had mysteriously began forming a couple of minutes ago.

- yes, I'm absolutely being serious. This fog is kind of weird though, it wasn't here a while ago - she said while extending her arm out and trying to capture some of it in her hand. I lightly laughed at her futile attempts to try and catch fog because it simply couldn't be done. Or could it...?

- you can't capture gas in your hands dummy - I said while smiling.

- stop trying to kill my dreams - she complained but in reality I knew she was just joking. - come on - she motioned for me to get inside with her hand. - you can't be late to your ball prince charming -

I scoffed and ignored her polite commands. - I'm not going - I said.

- why not Dane - she asked with her hands still by her side. My hands pushed my body off of the balcony and I turned to face her.

- like you said earlier, I'm a prince and this prince wont go because his princess has declined his invitation and now he's very sad - I spoke in a third person point of view.

- not a good enough reason as to why you cannot go. Come inside now, it's freezing out here - she said as she wrapped her arms around herself and was to step foot inside but before she could I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into my chest.

- is that all you to say to me - I whispered into her ear while still maintaining my grip on her.

- no, it's cold and I want to go inside and sleep the day away. There, I'm done - she said in one long breath while skirming under my arms.

- why wont you go with me...? - I questioned her but still let go of her because it was getting terribly cold out here.

- because. ... - she said as she pushed me to the edge of the balcony. - it's your special night, not mine -

- it's ours - I replied back before cupping her face in my hands and looking profoundly into her eyes. - everything that's mine is yours -

She gulped at my sudden serious tone and looked at me with fearful eyes. It was a look I had never seen before...

- do I scare you? - I asked now confused.

- no, I just don't like it when you talk like that - she said.

- why? - I tried making eye contact with her but failed.

- I don't like the fact that you baby me but I can't complain because I don't even do anything about it. I have the education to get an amazing job but I yet don't do anything with it and it bothers me - she said. I simply hugged her and gave her a kiss on the head in an attempt to make her see how foolish she was.

- even if you had a job I still wouldn't stop babying you. It's practically my second job and you know you love it as much as I do - I said in a lighter and caring tone. - but that still doesn't get you out of going with me to this ball. I need my partner in crime next to me at all times -

- I can't - she said and that disappointed me deeply - because. .. I haven't been asked properly just like any other prince would ask any other princess -
