I didn't watch the VMA's.

Kim's point of view

- Andrew? - I said in disbelief.

- glad to see you still remember me - he said as he picked me up and twirled me around. I laughed and hugged him tightly.

- it's hard to forget my best friend - I said while still hugging him. - what are you doing here -

- I live two blocks away from here. I was just on my way to buy some take out and rent some movies - he sheepishly said.

- oh - I barely managed to say.

- enough about me, what are you doing here. Are you vacationing with someone -

- I'm just here shopping with my friend Stacy and no, I live in the outskirts of the city - I said.

- country, right? - he asked.

- yeah, have you ever taken a rode trip there. It's gorgeous this time of the year -

- no, but I was planning on renting a cabin out there for.... - he said before he got interrupted by a flushed looking Stacy.

- why did I have to buy so much - she mumbled to herself as she threw her bags on the back seat.

- ummm I don't know but I would like to introduce you to an old friend of mine - I said to her a little annoyed by her inconsiderate actions.

- hi I'm Andrew - he said as he shuck her hand.

- I'm Stacy - she said with a unreadable look on her face. I had never seen her look or act this way. I stood there quietly as they introduced each other and laughed at each others jokes.

- oh, sorry Kim. We should go find a nice restaurant before it gets any later - Stacy said - Andrew, would you like to come -

- I would love to if it's okay with Kim - he said.

- why wouldn't I be fine with it - I said with a smile. - let's go - I motioned for both of them to get in the car.

We ended up choosing an Italian place called Ventoso which served little to no vegan food.

- hi I'm Flora, I'll be your waiter tonight. Can I start you guys out with a drink - she said in a bland tone except when she talked to Andrew.

- can I have a bottle of your finest champagne - Stacy said

- do you mind if we share - Andrew said as he looked at Stacy and smiled.

- what about you miss? - she said in her uninterested tone.

- water with a lemon wedge would be lovely - I said.

- I'll be back in a couple of minutes to take your orders - she said as she placed her note pad back in the pocket of her apron.

- water with lemon Kim? Live a little - Stacy said.

- just being a responsible driver -

- responsible... - Andrew said sarcastically.

- what is that supposed to mean - I said with a frown.

- nothing, so why don't you tell me your life stories ladies - he said as he leaned back into the plush red booth.

- I live in California, I'm the manager at OSCORP, and am recently single - Stacy said.

- lovely - Andrew said.

- what about you. Is there a special lady prepping for all the upcoming holiday "fun" - Stacy asked him. Andrew's eyes got wide when she mentioned the word "fun".

- no, no fun for me this Thanksgiving. It's just going to be me and my neighbors puppy - he said.

- neighbors puppy? - Stacy said.

- they wouldn't allow her to take him on the plane so she asked me if I could pet sit him. Me being the horrible nice guy that I am, I just couldn't say no to her - Andrew smiled.

- aw how cute - Stacy said practically drooling over him.

- Kim, why so quiet - Andrew startled me.

- here you go guys - the waitress said as she placed the tray with our drinks on the table. - have you decided what you want to order -

- yes, I'll have the Friuli-Venezia Giulia - Stacy said.

- I'll have the small smoked pancetta flat bread pizza and pinita - Andrew said.

- can I have the smoked artichoke salad with everything except the dressing - I ordered.

- you sure, the dressing is what makes it come alive. The salad alone is delectable but I recommend eating it with everything - she said with a nicer attitude than before.

- as tempting as that sounds, I'm going to have to pass - I said.

She simply smiled and walked back to the kitchen.

- still vegan? - Andrew asked as he poured himself a glass of champagne.

- of course - I said with a smile.

- Kimmy darling, is there a man in the picture - he said in a girly voice.

- she's engaged - Stacy interrupted.

- congratulations - he said quietly.

- thanks - I said as I looked down at my hand.

- can I see? - he asked. I moved my hand from my lap and into his hand.

- it's.... so big and beautiful - he said in a hesitant voice. - who's the lucky guy -

- it's...-  I was beginning to say but was interrupted once again by Stacy.

- Dane DeHaan - she said.

- the Dane who we used to hang out with in high school? - Andrew asked while still holding my hand.

- yes - I said. Thankfully the lady came just in time with our food and for the rest of the dinner I kept my mouth closed. I nodded and laughed every once in a while until Stacy and Andrew finished their dinner and said goodbye.

- it was nice meeting you Andrew - Stacy said as she hugged him.

- pleasure meeting you too - he said. - hey Kim, can I have your number -

I nodded and inserted my number into his phone.

I drove Andrew home and afterwords stopped by a seven eleven to buy a slurpee.

- can we stop for doughnuts - Stacy asked.

- of course. I could use some orange juice -

- what, you just bought a slurpee - she said as she pointed at the cup holder.

- too much sugar - I casually said.
