FIVE YEARS AGO
Dayu's POV
I saw him. The prince, as I called him; walking around, and smiling and talking even laughing with the people with; but I could see that he's actually so sad and lonely.
The arrogant smile and laugh didn't reach his eyes.
"Ah..!" Then she appeared, the beautiful lady, who was having her wedding here at the ballroom hall of the Imperial Hotel, "Qing..!!!" She opened her arms and hugged the Prince. As usual, his eyes softened as he looked at her. His eyes were filled with love, and it was so clear to me that I was wondering why, the lady never saw it. Or maybe she did, but she pretended not to. And yet, that never stopped her from attaching herself to the prince, even though she's going to marry soon.
"Min Mei..." the prince patted the lady's back, his expression was so gentle and loving, it even warmed me up inside.
"Thank you so much!" She said happily, smiling up at the prince acting as if didn't realise that there's something amiss, "this is the most beautiful wedding reception, I had ever attended...Even though, it's mine..! And I may sound conceited but it's true!!!" She gushed, keeping her hands on Qing's arms.
And I frowned. Again, I was baffled. Whenever I saw the prince with this lady, I just couldn't comprehend it; how in the world could she be so blind to the prince's feelings for her? And to think that she's the prince's childhood friend, at that?! How in the world could she have missed it? Even I could see that the prince loved her; it's as clear as the day, to me.
"Qing..!" And then, came the husband, a sturdy man, good looking and tall; but not as tall and not nearly as handsome as the prince. The husband is the prince's best friend.
And again, I was left wondering as always. The man who became the lady's husband was supposed to be the prince's best friend. But, he too didn't seem to realised of the prince's feelings for his wife. Both he and his wife got me baffled. They're probably the blindest of people in the whole world for not seeing the prince's true feeling.
Then, the lady let go of the prince's arm, linking her hands with her husband's, "hubby.." she called out to him, and I saw the prince winced a little at that sight. And I winced with him. As my heart aches for him.
"Thank you, for all your effort Qing...You must have worked very hard.." the husband bowed a little to the prince and smiled, "you are really our best friend, Qing. I am still a little mad, though..Why did you decline to be our best man!?"
"Guo gege..." the prince had completely hidden his feelings by then, as he faced the couple with normal expression, "I can't be your best man, because I am your wedding manager. I have to make sure that everything is perfect..A best man can't go about running around during the wedding..."he said coolly. And his best friend laughed as he gave the prince a light punch on his arm.
