Present Day

Shijiazhuang

Dayu's POV

Strangely enough; the setting is familiar and the reason for the meeting is probably the same. Yet, I felt different. It didn't feel the same.

This morning; as I was helping out, Aunt Huiyin and Siew Li as usual at the front, setting up the café and getting ready for our costumers to arrive, the café doorbell rang. All of us turned to the door with a smile, to welcome our first costumer for the day; but I froze upon seeing the person walking in. Siew Li and Aunt Huiyin welcomed her, as usual thinking that she's a new costumer.

We had opened the café, temporarily at the Beiguo Shopping Mall, and we had been in business here for almost three months. Our loyal costumers still came and what's more, we had gained some new costumers too. But, the woman who just walked in was no new customer.

I didn't froze for long though, unlike the first time when she came to see me. She took me by surprise in both occasion but, unlike the first time, my heart didn't fell, nor was I swamped with guilt when I saw her.

I walked over when she just stood at the doorway, looking at me with the same contempt in her eyes; just like the way I remembered she was looking at me, that time almost five years ago. It was the same look in her eyes the last time I saw her, when Qing and I were at the mall in Beijing a little more than a year ago.

"Hello, Miss Lin.."

I saw the sides of her mouth, crooked in disgust and contempt, as she spoke, "let's meet. This afternoon..I want to talk with you, in private..." there's not a hint of goodwill in her expression, her gestures or her body language. She was at the peak of hostility. It was as if, breathing in the same air as me was disgusting her.

It bothered me, five years ago. It bothered me so much, as much as the guilt I had, because I came into Qing's life when I thought he was still in love with Lin Min Mei. But, amazingly, it didn't bother me that much, this morning.

"Sure..." I nodded calmly, and features for her to come in, to which she snorted hatefully.

"I wouldn't eat or drink anything that you and your disgusting bunch of lowlife, prepare..They make me sick.."

Even her vindictive words didn't hurt me; if anything, she's beginning to piss me off. She could bad mouth me all she wanted; but, she should never bring other people into it. This was between us; between her and me. My friends had nothing to do with it.

"Please be careful, Miss Lin..You're the one who walked in our place..We didn't drag you in.." I warned her, sharply and she gasped; perhaps she just realised that I was not as timid as I was five years ago.

"I will wait at the China Club Restaurant, Hilton Hotel, at 1 this afternoon.." and with that, she walked out of the door.

I sighed and turned back to the the counter. Siew Li and Aunt Huiyin was looking at me, with concerned expression on their face, even though they weren't sure what just happened.
