Three and a half years ago. The day after Lin Min Mei's return.
Qing's POV
Damn. My face was bruised pretty badly. I winced as I applied the ice pack on my jaw.
What a mess I'm in right now! How did I get myself entangled in this?
I had reserved a private dining area in my hotel for dinner with Lin Min Mei and Qi Zhou, her husband and my best friend, tonight. The dinner was supposed to be at 7 pm. And I intend to help the both of them to discuss their problems and I would help them to get back together. As I said, I wanted their relationship to work.
I really didn't think much of Min Mei's words and kiss last night, and I put it under her being stressed out and jet lagged. She's just acting out because of her problem. That's what I thought.
But then, I got a call from the restaurant telling me that Qi Zhou was there , drunk and he's making a ruckus. It was only a little after six. He was early.
I rushed to the restaurant and found him being detained by several of my kitchen staff.
"Zhou!" I called out to him, surprised as to why he's this drunk when he knew that I had planned to have dinner with him and Min Mei tonight.
"Ahhh! If it's not the great Wang Qing! The perfect Wang Qing!" Qi Zhou shrugged off the staffs hold and went to hug me, "handsome. Rich. Single. Wang Qing!" He mumbled as he patted my back; non too gently.
The staffs tried to get him back but I signalled for them to leave him be.
"Is the private dining free right now?" I asked and Miss Chee,the supervisor nodded, "we will use it now.." I said and then I helped Qi Zhou who's barely standing on his feet , to walk to the private dining area I booked at 7pm.
My best friend had never done anything like this before; in all the years that we knew each other. The Qi Zhou that I knew was always calm and collected, responsible and dependable. That's why I was able to let Min Mei be with him.
This is so not like Qi Zhou at all. This is far from his character that I knew. So I could only conclude that, the problem between him and Lin Min Mei, really is a major one. Something's really wrong in their relationship.
He sat back, on the dining couch, closing his eyes, as I went to close the door after asking the staff to send in some plain water. Qi Zhou need to sober up a little. Soon, one of the kitchen staff; one of Dayu's friend came with two bottles of plain water.
I chose to have dinner at the hotel with Qi Zhou and Min Mei tonight, because I knew that this was Dayu's day off. I wouldn't have booked the dining area here, if he was working tonight. It'd be awkward for him, seeing me with Min Mei. Even though, there's nothing between me and Min Mei anymore, not that there ever was anything between us, because all these while, it had always been an unrequited love on my part but, that's not the case anymore; I still don't want Dayu to see us together. I didn't want him to get any funny ideas. And judging from what's happening right now; I really am glad that Dayu isn't here right now, witnessing this embarrassing turn of event.
