After multiple days of paperwork, cardboard boxes, and realizing I own a lot more things than I originally had thought, it's time for me to move in with Dan. We had listed a ton of my bigger furniture on EBay, while moving all the other things we had room for into their apartment. Dan had spent hours reorganizing his closet and dresser, just so I had room for my own things. Most of the time was spent with me picking my own clothes off the floor.
We had a meeting with the landlord yesterday, who was thankfully an incredibly laidback guy, and made it an easy process for my name to be on the lease. My lease had only just ended, so this was rather impeccable timing.
Dodie, Dan, and Phil all help me pack, along with moving my things into their apartment. Even with their help, however, moving across a hallway is a lot harder than you would expect.
My apartment is incredibly empty, except for the furniture that we have to sell, and Dan's is now completely full of cardboard boxes that we're too exhausted to unpack. The four of us sit in the lounge, not wanting to move.
Everyone else was tired, but I thought I was incredibly close to dying. After that moment in the pizza restaurant, it was as if my appetite had been stripped from me. I wasn't necessarily starving myself, but I'm always hungry, and bodychecking myself at least once every five minutes.
Suddenly, Dodie sits up excitedly. "Is it just me, or is anyone else craving some McDonalds?"
"You just read my mind," Phil sits up, smiling.
"Ugh...but that's so much work..." Dan pouts, not moving from his spot on the ottoman, lying flat on his stomach.
"Phil and I can go pick it up for you," Dodie says, already standing up.
"Thank you, because I really don't want to leave either," I add, staying just as still as Dan.
"See you in a little bit!" And just like that, Dodie and Phil are outside the door, and I can hear them giggling even down the hallway. I look up at Dan, and can't help but smile.
He raises his eyebrows in confusion. "What?" He asks, twisting his head to face me, and I giggle at his squished cheek against the ottoman.
"Do you ever realize how perfect their relationship is?" I say. "I mean, they barely get in fights, they have the same exact sense of humor, they're basically soulmates."
Dan sighs, sitting up and smiling. "Yeah, I know," he replies. "They're, like, meant for each other." He then hesitates, before adding, "I think we're made for each other, too."
My ears heat up, but I smile. "I think so, too."
Dan continues looking at me, before sitting up, and saying, "Okay, let's stop with this sappy shit. I've been working all day, and the one thing I want right now is to play some fucking Mario Kart."
Half an hour later, Dodie and Phil come back into the apartment, giggling and joking around just as loud as ever. "We have arrived, bearing gifts!" Dodie chants, dropping the food in front of the coffee table.
"You are officially my favorite person," I laugh, grabbing the bag and searching through it, as Dan shuts off Mario Kart and turns on Netflix. Yes, I feel guilty about eating, but the smell almost nauseates me, and I need that food in my stomach as soon as possible.
"Thank you very much," Dodie laughs, grabbing her own food from the paper bag.
After eating, the four of us do nothing but watch Netflix, eat, and talk, until it's around ten o'clock. AsI lean against Dan, I look at the couch next to me, and realize Dodie and Phil have both crashed, Dodie's head resting on Phil's shoulder.
