A/N: Hiya friends, fun little note is today is my birthday and ALSO I'm seeing P!ATD at the end of January so for the last week I've been listening to them on repeat and crying. I've literally been a Brendon Urie stan since their first album came out in 2005, so yeet. 🙃
As I stand in the corner, nursing a glass of champagne, I take in everything going on around me. I had always assumed that if my two lives had ever met, it would be nothing but disaster. However, what I watch before me is something out of a dream. Dodie and Macy joke around by the buffet, both guffawing out of laughter. No wonder both of them had ended up being my best friends, they were nearly twins. In a farther corner, Phil is introducing Kenny to Tyler Oakley, and I can tell by Kenny's expression that he's using every bone in his body to not completely fangirl on the spot. Even my mom is bonding with Dan's parents, all three of them with content grins on their faces. As my two worlds collide, it is nothing like a disaster, but more an instance of pure beauty. One that I will never forget.
As I admire the scene in front of me, Dan pops up at my side, a cheery grin on his face. I look down at his hands, where he holds two cupcakes.
"I'll give you one, if you promise not to shove it in my face," he says, trying his best to fake a serious expression.
I pout dramatically. "Well, what's the fun in that?" I scoff. He only rolls his eyes, but still hands me the cupcake. "Thank you." I kiss him quickly on the cheek, before licking the buttercream frosting from the top of the cupcake.
"Now, I know we're both introverts, but I'm still quite surprised that you're standing in the corner, alone, at your own wedding."
I scoff, cringing a bit at the last word. "Ugh, please don't say wedding, it makes me feel old."
His eyebrows crease together, looking taken aback. "Um, considering I'm seven years older than you, I'm offended."
"Oh, sorry, I forgot," I instantly reply. "I mean, you can't blame me, considering you still act like a total child."
Dan rolls his eyes. "Whatever, you still love me."
"Well, yeah," I retort. "If I didn't, this might be a bit awkward, don't ya think?"
He lets out a heavy laugh, his dimples nearly sweeping me off my feet for the trillionth time ever. God, I don't think I'll ever get over how bloody gorgeous this man is.
"God, I'm so in love with you," Dan breathes, and my mouth drops as I take in what he says. I look up into his chocolate eyes, I realize I've never been more sure of anything in my life.
"I fucking love you," I blurt, before placing my hand on his cheek and kissing him deeply.
It's as if it's our first kiss all over again, the fireworks exploding in my gut like an explosion. However, I remember we're literally in a room with all the most important people in our lives, and pull away. Dan's face falls with mock disappointment, and I can't help but giggle.
"Don't worry, we'll have time for plenty of that tonight," I whisper, smirking as he chuckles, a faint blush spreading on his cheeks. He's about to say something, when Phil's voice booms throughout the room, and I turn to see him standing on a table in the middle of the room. Everyone turns to face him, and I realize, with him being the best man, he must be about to do the toast.
"Hey, everyone. For those of you who don't me, I'm Phil, also sometimes referred to as Dan's internet senpai." The room bursts into laughter, and Dan only shakes his head at Phil, his cheeks growing slightly scarlet. Once the laughter dies down, Phil continues.
"I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight, especially with a lot of you having to have flown here from around the world. And how about this wedding? I mean, this venue is beautiful, and of course I have to thank Dodie and Macy, along with (y/n)'s mom and Dan's parents for throwing it all together. I mean, if we're being honest, if it wasn't for them, this night would have been a total disaster." The entire room applauds, everyone turning their attention to the people just mentioned. Dan and I join in clapping, before Phil continues.
"Now, Dan and (y/n)'s love story is probably one of the most chaotic relationships you could ever find, and trust me when I say this, as I had to live through it." Phil is perfect at playing the crowd, and after the chuckles die down, he continues with the toast.
"Now, when I say (y/n) came into our life out of nowhere, I really mean out of nowhere. Dan and I had been in the middle of a rather rowdy game of Mario Kart, when she had knocked on our door to tell us to shut up. Now, Dan and I are both rather hostile toward anyone who interrupts a game of Mario Kart. However, (y/n) was an exception.
"I've known Dan for a very long time, and let me tell you, the first time he met (y/n), I knew he was head over heels, even if he wasn't willing to admit it. Of course, it took awhile for their relationship to even start, as both (y/n) and Dan were adamant at suppressing their feelings for each other. However, fate was going to get its way, under whatever circumstances. I knew on that day, Dan had found his missing piece, and (y/n) completed him. It's true, they haven't always had it as easy as an ordinary couple. However, the connection between them is no ordinary love.
"Okay, well, I must remember this is a toast, not a speech. Before I bid you all goodnight, I'd love for you all to join me in raising a glass. Here's to the bride and groom, two of the best friends I could have ever asked for, and may they enjoy a lifetime of joy, happiness, shared existential crises, and unimaginable love."

Thank you all for reading Playing With Fire! Now, before you leave, I want to say I'll be starting a new story, that should already be on my account, called Identity. It's something I've had in the works for awhile, and to be honest, I'm quite proud of it.
Now, just a warning, this is going to get sappy for a second. I just need to express how much this story has helped me through. It's given me an outlet, and the most amazing friends, and a purpose. If this story helped any of you in any way, even as a way to enjoy yourself, then that's more than I could ever ask for. I've fallen in love with this story in so many ways, as stupid as that sounds. But most importantly, I love you all. Without your support, this story wouldn't exist. I just need you to know how much I care about you all.
Okay, I'm done with my rant. Again, I really hope you enjoyed this story, and if you did, please remember to check out Identity. I'll see you all later 💜
