A/N: it's December 1st, bitches, I get to see the giant tree lit in the city(not gonna tell you which city because I don't need no stalkers)and I get cheesy potato soup for lunch so everything's great 💜
I stare out the window as sunlight streams into the kitchen, distracted by the pure snow that came in last night. It's the first snow of the winter, and I want to enjoy it as long as I can before I get sick of it.
"Hey! Are you even paying attention to anything I say?" Dodie waves in front of my face, and I turn to her.
"Um...yeah?" I lie, and she rolls her eyes.
"You need to pick a date. We can't do anything until we figure out how much time we have to plan."
The second I woke up this morning, Dodie immediately told me we have to start planning for the wedding. Honestly, I was thinking something more simple. But with Dodie planning it, it'll be nothing short of extravagant.
"Sometime in the spring, maybe, so it's not too warm, but also not cold?" I ask her, letting her have the final say. She seems to care more about this than I do, so I'm going to do whatever I can without getting in her way.
"Sounds great, we'll go with the end of May. Summer's just around the corner, so it'll be perfect weather."
"Sounds like a plan," I reply, and Dan walks into the kitchen. I mouth 'help me' as he fills up a glass of water, but he only chuckles, before walking back out of the kitchen. I give an annoyed sigh, before turning back to the notebook Dodie's been scribbling in all morning.
"Okay, so we're also going to need to find a musician or band, a photographer, a mixologist, obviously, and we'll need to think of a venue, along with who we want to cater..." Dodie goes on and on about all the things I really don't give a shit about, and I'm starting to believe it might be a lot less stressful if Dan and I just get eloped. However, I'm sure if I mentioned that idea to Dodie, she'd probably scream.

Three hours later, I run my hands through my hair for the thousandth time, looking at different possible venues for the wedding and reception. To be honest, they all look perfectly fine, but Dodie always finds an earth-ending flaw to cross them off the list. While I rub my temples, Dan walks back into the kitchen. He sees the look on my face, before giving me a pitiful smile, and turns to Dodie.
"Hey, Dodie, you think I could borrow (y/n)?" He asks, leaning casually against the counter.
Dodie huffs angrily, not taking her eyes off the screen. "Fine, but if you're entire wedding ends up being a fuck-fest, don't blame me."
I stand up, rubbing her back. "Dodie, this is supposed to be a stressor for Dan and I, not you. Go take a break, and shower, or go out with Phil, or something."
She sighs heavily another time, but closes her laptop, and walks out of the kitchen. As I hear a door close from the hallway, I look up at Dan, holding my face in my hands.
"What's up?" I ask him, an uncontrollable smile forcing itself on my face.
"Is it bad that I think Dodie cares more about this wedding than I do?" He asks. "I mean, I could care less about the venue, as long as I still get to marry you."
I laugh. "I'd recommend to her just letting us elope, but she'd probably have a meltdown."
He nods in agreement. "Yeah, maybe it's best to just let her do what makes her happy. It stresses her out, but I'm sure at least a part of her enjoys it."
I smile. "Well, since I've finally gotten a break, why don't we do something?" I ask. "Go to the movies or something." He raises his eyebrows, and I immediately know what he's thinking. "I remember the accident, but that was months ago, and honestly, I feel like I've gone through worse. And anyway, after we've experienced that, I feel like the possibility of us going through that a second time is pretty damn low."
