The week was dreadful and painful. My heart was bleeding more and more as each day passed. Cade would call me nearly every night and I wouldn't answer. I wished I could tell him that his girlfriend told me to stop talking to him but how?

Friday after school, I went to the basketball courts and to my enlightenment, I saw Cade and Kendall. The two were fighting.

"This isn't about her Cade, you cheated on me!"

"Oh c'mon you were sleeping with Jackson. This isn't on me."

Kendall pushed him.

"That was only cause you were too busy with basketball practice, and you were giving me so little attention. What's a girl supposed to do?" Kendall screamed.

So Jack did sleep with Kendall.

"Still. You're a fake. Just go home. It's over between us."

"No. Cade you and I are the bomb. Everyone wants to be us. Please don't-"

"Look I'm just not feeling you anymore. I'm interested in someone else now."

"Oh please. Who? Is it Brenda?"

"I don't have to tell you who it is." Cade said.

"We can fix things Cade." She begged.

"Kendall, you've been doing what you want recently and so have I. The only difference now is that I've made our separation official." Cade reasoned.

A smile spread across my face and I looked down. If Cade and Kendall are not together anymore, Kendall's threat is invalid now.

Kendall broke down into tears and I thought of one thing only. I reached out into my pocket, took my phone and recorded the epic scene. She pushed Cade one more time.

"You son of a bitch." She said.

"I know you don't mean that." Cade said to her while she walked away.

I ran back to my car before any of them could get a chance to spot me.

I got home, threw myself onto the bed and watched the video I had taken earlier.
The video automatically paused as an incoming call popped up.

It was Cade.

"Cade?"

"Maia, can I pick you up tonight? I really need you." He said sounding anxious.

"What time?"

"9 pm." He said.

"Alright."

He hung up.
Whatever was going to happen, I had to be prepared for it. My mom told me she wouldn't be home till midnight cause of work so I was safe. Being an only child and living with your mother only can be enjoyable at times.

I showered and wore a one piece black sleeveless jumpsuit along with a pair of sneakers. My hair was braided as usual and I wore my new pair of glasses for the first time since I got them.

Cade's car horn sounded and I grabbed my phone and rushed to leave.

I got into his car and I was warmly welcomed by the tender feeling of his lips on mine.

"What was that for?" I asked in disbelief.

"I just felt like I should. I was always told to do whatever is good for the soul..."
