After the encounter with Ali, Ember and I separated. She went home with Mac and I drove home alone. I felt so empty without Cade.

I got home and I was so relieved when I saw that my mom wasn't around. Lately we haven't been seeing eye to eye. I took a shower, sat down and I decided to call Norman.

I dialed his number and waited for him to pick up.

"Hello." He said.

"Umm good evening, it's Maia from River High."

"Oh Maia, what do I owe this pleasant surprise?"

"You said I could talk to you if I had any problems, so I'd like to discuss somehting with you, I don't know if it's a good time." I said.

"Well I'm sure whatever this is, you wouldn't want to speak about it over the phone?"

"Right. Maybe I can come to the station and see Cade after I talk to you."

"Not necessarily, you're a young and beautiful woman, the station isn't where you'd like to be and besides why would you want to visit that crimina-"

"Please don't speak about my boyfriend like that and thanks for the compliment." I stated.

He sighed.

"Alright, how about we go for dinner and we can talk about it tonight. Tomorrow I'll be busy with the investigations."

"I think I'll pass." I said.

"Oh c'mon, it's my treat and it's not a date 6pm?"

"Make it 7pm and it's a deal." I said.

He agreed and I hung up. I had a strange gut feeling. How could I have been getting distracted? All I need right now is to get Cade free. I'll have to visit him tomorrow after school. But for tonight I need to get Norman on my side.

7pm

Norman sounded his car horn and I met him outside my gate.

I wore a plain yellow dress and white flats. He was neatly dressed in a shirt and formal pants.

"You didn't have to go all the way you know." I told him referring to the way he was so fancily dressed.

"First impressions, gotta look good for the young lady." He said.

I wasn't too satisfied with his response. It's almost as if he's trying to flirt with me all the time and I was just hoping not to get distracted. If I kept Cade in mind, his charm wouldn't woo me at all.

We drove to the nearest Italian restaurant. He got out and opened the door for me as well. He offered me his hand and I politely rejected it.

We found a table, sat and ordered our food. While we waited I began talking.

"Alright so my issue is that Cade is innocent." I blurted out.
