"Maia?" He said hardly believing his eyes.

"Father. It really is you." I laughed in disappointment.

This is the man who left my mother and I for another family.

"My little girl." He said and attempted to give me a hug.

I dodged the hug and stepped back.
I shook my head in disappointment.
My head started going haywire. I had so many questions that needed answers. I needed to know why he left. Why he was following me? Why he paid my hospital bill?

"I'm not your little girl anymore Kevin." I said.

"I know you and I have lots to talk about. And I'm ready now. I'm ready to explain everything to you. Back then you were-"

"I don't want to hear it. Why did you follow me the night I was raped? And after that you kept showing up? Why's that? Why did you pay my hospital bill? I never asked that of you. You couldn't be man enough to approach me face to face, is that it?" I stormed.

"I understand your frustrations as well as your mother's. But I was just fulfilling the dad needs."

"Dad needs? You're my biological father but you've already lost the chance of you being a dad to me." I told him.

"It's alright for you not to be ready to accept me back into your life and I understand you princess. But I'm here now and I'm ready to make up for lost time."

"She dumped you isn't it? Or what? She found another sugar daddy? I'm not 5 anymore Kevin. I've lost all the little respect I had for you. I'm 18 now. I'm an adult. "Darling, I'm willing to do anything for you and your mother to forgive me. I love you guys. You're the two women I love the most in this world. And I'm so impressed that you've become so strong and independent."

"It's a shame I'm related to you. How do you expect me to feel? You made me feel unwanted my whole life. I grew up without a father figure. And here you are now thinking you can make a difference?" I snapped.

Tears started threatening to roll out and I had no choice but to hold them back.

"I can never take back the awful things I did. And I can't make up for all the lost time. And I can't go back in time to make different decisions. But Maia if you wish, you may go back home and you don't have to see me again. I guess your mother was right. I mess up everything I touch."

A small part of me wanted to embrace him. I can't lie I did miss my father. Too many years had passed but he was still my father right?

"I'll give you a chance dad. A chance to make things right because I love you. Even though you broke my heart." I said pulling him into a hug.

"Aww my girl." He said.
"What about your mother?"

"You're going to have to convince her you've changed. Even if I forgive you. Things need to be right with all three of us so that we can be a happy family."

He nodded in agreement.

"So let's go home. It's now or never." I told him.
