Toya DeLazy- Memoriam
"Precious one, a life so young, that left footprints in my heart now embedded in my soul,oh precious one, your life had not begun now spread towards the shore may your memory flow like the waters
And So long my love, although I hadn't had enough enjoy your life beyond as long as you are now happier!"Maia
The week went by quite quickly. My parents seemed to be getting along now which was a really good thing. And seeing my happy parents, made me think bout Cade and his parents. I had a little plan coming up my sleeve but for today it was a different story. It was the Jack's funeral.
I won't lie, I wasn't too upset about it and neither was Cade nor Max nor Ember. It was just crazy knowing that someone who used to be close to you and you saw them around a lot was no longer there. I mean, I couldn't find it in my heart to forgive Jack for raping me because it did leave a wound that may still be in the process of healing. I still chose to go to the funeral anyway.
Cade came into my room dressed in a black T-shirt and black jeans.
"You look so sexy in those." I said giving him a kiss.
"Haha, look at you, not even half dressed. Its a funeral Blue, you don't have to get all glam you know." He laughed.
I laughed too.
"Hey, let me take my time. Please pin my bra for me." I said as I put it on.
"Sure, and in case you're gonna look all glam just try and impress me, you don't have to. I'm mostly impressed when you're without the clothes anyway."
We both giggled.
"Shhh. My mom is in the next room. She could hear you."
"Does it really matter? Hmmm?"
He put his hands underneath my bra and I started feeling it...
"Cade, we can't do this now. Stop it and help me get dressed." I ordered.
"Yes ma'am." He said and he handed me my black dress.
He zipped it up for me and helped me with everything else. We waited for Ember and Max to come pick us up and when they did, we left and my parents followed.
Arriving at the burial place, the atmosphere was very tense and gloomy. The feeling was almost consuming and frightening. Most people were seated and mourning, others crying and others were almost expressionless. I spotted Alison from a distance and I looked down.
"Are you okay?" Cade asked.
"Yeah, I just saw Alison over there." He looked at where Alison was and I could tell her felt a little bad.
"She looks like she was run over by a bus. You should go talk to her." Cade said.
"You and your bad jokes, alright. I'll be back." I left Cade talking to Max and I went with Ember to Ali.
I placed my hand on her shoulder.
"Ali, you okay?" I asked.
The poor thing was damp. It almost looked like she had been crying for countless days.
"He was a jerk but I loved him Maia." She told me.
I hugged her and Ember hugged her as well.
"Look Ali, life goes on. Allow yourself to mourn him, but don't deprive yourself of your life. He's burning in hell as we speak but, at least it's a new life for him right?"
Ember jabbed me in the gut when I said that.
"Be nice." She whispered.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. But hey death always takes away those we love the most. But that doesn't mean they won't always be alive in our hearts does it? Cheer up Ali. You'll be alright. Allow yourself to weep but tomorrow is a brand new day, fresh starts and beginnings, promise me?"
"I promise." She said as she cried harder.
Ember and I left her and went back to Max and Cade.
The priest finally stopped preaching and it was time for people to give speeches. Some were ridiculously boring and very few were honest and remarkable. The best one was Alison's.
She said, "I fought for him the hardest and I thought it made me the strongest, but instead it took away my strength and left me weak. But I'm thankful for everything both the good and bad times. The life and love he brought to my life. He wasn't the best person, and I guess I can say he got what he deserved."
Now that was thoughtful.
After the speeches, people were now placing the flowers onto his coffin.
Cade and I locked arms as we made our way to his coffin.
"I never liked you Jackson Mendes." Cade said.
"Born a coward, die a coward. There is no justice for a rapist." I said.
We both threw our black roses, simultaneously, where his coffin had been placed.
Black roses simply expressed how we both felt about him.
Dark feelings.
