With Cade's birthday approaching, I made sure that things were falling into place. I told Max, Ember and my parents. I was supposed to announce it to him during dinner on Thursday night, but somehow I felt that Cade would love the surprise more, if it's just the two of us.

During recess, we sat alone at our usual spot and today they were serving chocolate cupcakes.

"They're so nice huh?" I asked him.

"Nice is an understatement Blue." He said as he took another abnormally large bite into the cupcake.

"Geez, okay, so after school, I was thinking that we could go to the lake, and you know, perhaps maybe just talk." I said sounding hasty.

"Sure. But what's the occasion? Should I carry protection?"

Honestly sometimes I wonder how Cade and I are still together.

"No dummy. And besides, I'm on birth control." I laughed.

"So you just wanna talk?" He asked in a more serious tone.

"Yeah. So are you up for it?"

"Of course Blue. I'll see you there. I have extra credit for Biology. Apparently if I don't submit my assignment by Tuesday next week, I won't be graduating." He said with a chuckle.

"Alright, have fun."

I stood by the lake, waiting for Cade. I was gazing at the still waters. Come to think of it I hadn't visited the river in a long time. It almost felt like it's been years. I missed watching the sunset by the river. Honestly I can't put it in the right words. I just can't describe how beautiful the sunset is. The colours blast and clash with the greenish colour of the river water. Almost like a fight between heaven and hell, fire and flames, red and blue...

"Hey."

I screamed a little when I heard Cade's voice.

"You scared me." I said, with my hand on my heart.

"Aww I'm sorry Blue." He said and he kissed my nose.

I blushed.

"You're looking at the sunset."

"Yup, I'm in love with nature Cade. I mean the sunset is like everything to me. It simply shows that endings can be beautiful too." I said with a tear rolling down my eye.

"Hey baby, don't cry." He said wrapping his arms around my waist.

"They're tears of joy Cade. Your birthday is in two days. And I'm just so proud of the man that you've become." I said, wiping away the tear.

"I couldn't have done it without you Maia."

And we stared at the sun setting.
Glazed eyes, with hearts full of passion.

"Cade, I think it's time you pack your bags." I told him.

He freaked.

"You want me to move out?" He asked worriedly.

I laughed.

"Your imagination is dumb sometimes, for someone who's gonna be twenty, you need to stop this Cade." I said with another laugh.

"What do you mean? I'm confused."

"I'm saying you should pack your bags cause-"

"Your mom allowed me to stay with you in your room permanently!" He said with excitement.

"Cade... I need you to be quiet and let me speak okay?" I said putting my hands on his shoulders.

He nodded like a five year old.

"You need to pack for tomorrow's flight cause you'll be spending your birthday in NYC with your parents!"

His jaw dropped in amazement.
He pulled me into a tight hug. Like a really right hug.

"Maia-"

"Wait, that's not the best part, I'm coming with you." I smiled.

For the first time in a long time, Cade cried.

He pulled me into another right embrace and I knew he was happy.
