20: The Doctor

School came to an end for that day and I went straight to the doctor.

Before I left for the doctor I had a little conversation with Cade.

"You still haven't told me how you convinced my mom to let you stay with us." I teased him.

"Let's just say I have my ways." He teased back.

I smiled.

"So your parents are okay with you moving in?" I asked him.

He shrugged before answering.

"My parents don't live here. They stay in New Jersey. Where they uhh work."

He sounded a bit clumsy. But I ignored it, I was just happy that he was going to move in with me. At least I wouldn't have to have nightmares and replays of when Jack raped me. At least I would wake up next to him and feel warm, loved and protected.

I pulled up at the hospital. I took my phone along with me. I walked in and went by the reception.

I told the kind man that I had made an appointment. He showed me the way.

"Good afternoon." I greeted her.

"Hello, Maia... is it?"

"Yes." I answered.

"I'm Dr. Annabel. So what brings you here?"

"I came for a check up." I told her.

We ran some tests. She took a samples of my blood and urine.

She even took my blood pressure and temperature. She performed an X-ray and did a scan.

The process wasn't as bad as I expected.
After about an hour, I was asked to sit in the waiting room. I was anxiously waiting for the results as each minute passed by.

*Beep*Beep*

It was Cade.

"Babe. Where are you?" He asked.

"Umm I'll be home in 20." I dodged the question.

"Okay but where are you?" He asked again.

"I'm uh-"

"Maia Blue, your results are ready." One of the nurses called out.

"Maia, who was that?" Cade asked.

"I'll explain later. Bye." And I hung up.

If all my results are on point. I'll just tell him I had gone to the hospital.

I walked into the room I had been in before.

"Alright, Maia, I have all your tests results." Dr. Annabel said.
"Your blood pressure is normal, temperature is constant, and heart beat is also quite okay. However, your scan and urine results came back, and you're pregnant." She said.

I paused. Pregnant????

"What? Pregnant?"

"Yes you're four weeks into your pregnancy." She informed.

I sighed. The only relief there was that it wasn't Jack's child. It was Cade's. But how was I going to tell him?

How was I going to tell my mom?

What about school?

What about graduating?

Graduation was 4 months away. I couldn't keep this baby. I'd have to walk up to receive my certificate with a huge belly. And everyone would mock me at school and make fun of me.

But on the other hand. This was my baby. Not just any baby, but Cade's baby too. But how do I break the news to him?

How will I tell Ember and Max?

My whole life is just messy.

Everytime I move one step forward then two steps back. It's one high and two lows.

I always fall apart...
